I'm just now back from the Louisiana AMG track days where I had the chance to toss around a Kleemann CL65 for a number of laps and even make several passes down the drags the next day. When I wasn't trying to keep up with him in his CL with my CLK55, I hopped in his CL as passenger to learn the lines better and just soak in the incredible torque this monster puts to the pavement.
Other than exhausting tires rapidly, the owner is seeking a solution to the cars primary weakness: Brakes.
Obviously, the calipers are good enough to haul the car down, so we are surmising the issue lies with the stock pads and rotors. Short of going to the ceramic brakes, can you offer any suggestions I might pass along to him?
I posted a question about brakes on the E board and got limited but useful responses.
