Admittedly, I am not the most tech-savy person in the world (and no I am not some old geezer...unless 36 is the new 70). I refuse to compare a high performance car to a cell phone or some other trendy gizmo. I do appreciate technology, especially mechanical technology which is best displayed in the engine architecture of some of my favorite cars. However, the car must also be appealling to me physically as well. When I went from my E39 M5 I couldn't stand the design direction of the E60 Bangled M5 even though it had a remarkable powerplant. Although I loathe it less today, the E60 M5 still does not please my taste. That is why I went away from BMW. The majority of high performance car enthusiasts are more emotionally driven than worried about obsolescence of technology. The W215 and W216 CL65's share the same engine and transmission...does this mean the car was obsolete even before it rolled off the assembly line? I know the W216 has improved many of the car's other functions and it remains a great car. I think the CL65's will be talked about in reverence the way a 300SEL 6.3 or a 450SEL 6.9 are today. Will people ever talk about a Motorola V60 that way???

Thinking about the ecomony and the overhang of unsold cars, I think that by the 4th quater you should have no problem to buy a used '08 CL65 ~$120-130K.

Considering the fact that brand new 65s have to be discounted $20k right off the bat,you may not be that far off....

Compared to the performance of most of my investments right now, this CL65 idea is looking better and better . . .
