PORSCHE PANAMERA TURBO LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO SL600 E55 BRABUS*SOLD*
Going rate on 2005 CL65

What is a realistic price on a very nice Black CL65 2005 with aprox 17k for miles loaded Parktronic,Distronic,Keyless? private owner is asking 75k I'm trying to buy from. I've narrowed down my search to a CL65 or Maserati 2006 Gransport Coupe.

Thanks

Mid 60's for the CL...bottom has dropped out on em. He would be lucky to get close to that from a dealer.

Private party sales are different animals compared to used car dealer sales. There are a lot of factors that come into play, such as if the guy is upside down on his loan/lease, single owner, history of the car.

If the car is in great condition, single owner, no repaint, and if the car is an early or mid 2006 MY car (which means more than 24 months on factory warranty), then $70k would be an okay deal.

Dealer auction prices right now is about $60k.

First things first. The CL65 is definitely a better car and a better buy. I'm not just saying this because we are on a Mercedes forum. I love cars in general and I really do like the Grandsport but it has nothing on the CL65 IMO.

I have a fully loaded 2005 CL65 and really love it. I don't think 75K is unreasonable if it is in great condition. The auction prices are about 10K lower but many of these cars have more miles and probably a fair amount of rock chips and door dings. I think 70K would be fair for a 17K mile car but you may lose the car for 5K if he doesn't negotiate. Think about it and good luck.

I know im on a mercedes forum, but if i had to choose between a gransport or a cl65, i would choose the gransport. I owned one in the past and it was a great car. Unfortunetly, mine was one of the first to be built and gave me a lot of issues. But, i have heard from many people that the 2006 gransports are problem free. I purchased a 612 after getting rid of the gransport, and unfortunetly, this car is giving me problems also. The only thing that shocked me about the gransport was that the freakin clutch cost me $4000 to replace. Well goodluck, and dont rush (make the choice you wont regret).

I will be purchasing a CL65 probably sometime in March. I also thought of the Gransport as an alternative. It has a very unique look and the sound of the exhaust is incredible. There were two main things that detered me from going that route. 1. The rear seats really aren't too useful. 2. The maintenance costs...especially with the cambiocorsa tranny. I have heard of nightmares about the replacement costs.

Did you check out this ebay auction? The car doesn't have the parktronic and distronic but maybe you could get it CPO'ed by the selling MB dealer for the same price that this other guy is asking.

I agree that the maintenance is pretty expensive, but it is worth it for a car like that. As for the backseat, i actually thought it was quite comfortable. In my opinion, a bianco gransport is the way to goo Greg.

Never buy a V12 without extended warranty or CPO.

a) Tranny - torque converter goes , new tranny $11,000 in parts and labor
b) Bad pressure sensor - low power.
c) intercooler system - once the lines are broken, it will take a long long time to properly bleed the system.
