What a Pratt I felt, the 65 has gone down badly in my estimation.
If your CL65 lost to a stock M3 either 1. Your car is screwed up or 2. You fail at driving.

sound 8 contradiction

Don't you realise that your contradicting yourselves.
AMG 's for straight line, with soooo much power,
M cars for handling... the night I met the M3 obviously handling
was more important. The 65 was new to me, and did not handle as well
as the CLK63 which I chopped in.The CLK has fixed suspension quite firm
the 65 has adjustable gas suspension, better comfort less good handling.
On an open freeway or motorway the 65 would have trounced him, looking at
other threads, most shoot outs are on big open roads, show me some threads that involve bends!!! Driving a car is more than just pushing a throttle pedal.

Now this is really confusing and spiraled out of control. On your first post, you said it was straight line, and you were owned by an old M3.

Now you are saying it was around bends? Sound8, I think you should drop it. You just messed all up, and speaking from experience there are times when you let it go.

I am not sure if you own all these cars, or even if this actually happened, but one thing I do know: You were owned by a car over 10 years old, if what you say is true. This could have been due to your inexperience as a driver and not the car.

Sure, M's may handle better than AMG's. There was never a dispute on that, so why are we spiraling on the handling issue? You stated AMG's were not that fast (the title of your thread), not about AMG's, they don't handle that well.

Also, now are saying someone is contradicting themselves? Huh? Your entire thread is contradicting, and most of us are confused about the jumping all over the place off the topic at hand by yourself.

It's over, you were owned by an old M3, let it go. It's OK.

sound 8 not yet

This is the last thread, good you may say, but members post threads for
discussion. The Forum was new to me and the CL65 was new too.
This chase happened over around 5 miles, when I posted the first thread
I was really pissed. What's not new to me is driving fast cars over 30 years.
The original thread was too short but believe it or not when I first met the M3
I could have overtaken him, he didn't pull over , and I was not going for the inside.Every exit from a roundabout I could catch him until the last one.
When we finally reached a straight he moved over ( he was going to take
the exit) I swear my foot was flat but the 65 was bearly going by him.
Hence the bad thread, when you have 612bhp you feel invincible and on
a straight with both flat on the gas I expected more. The bends were gone,
it was down to the car, perhaps mine needs running in, it has failry low mileage!! So carry on blaming my driving if you like, but what's it got to do with straight line full throttle? there is something else , I never turn traction off and full power out of corners it robs the engine of power, driving with the traction off in my mind suicide.

I feel like im watch a truck stuck in mud with all season tires. It's doing nothing but blowin exhust out the back.

Now your talking about traction control as loss of power
I would suggest dont race your car. And if you do dont talk about it.

Are you talking about the European version of a E36 M3 with 321 HP?
Not a slow car,but still no match for a 65.
Numbers speak for them selfs.
Maybe next time you should get rid of the trailer that you were pulling to the park.

sound 8 not again

So I'm driving home last night in the 65 taking it easy, when I look in my mirror
and something is catching me very quickly. I know the road well and ahead
after a roundabout is a almost dead straight dual carriageway at least 2 miles long. I increase speed but soon sitting on my rear is a Porsche Turbo.
I straight line the roundabout but the Porsche comes on the inside showing
me his rear, but not for long.I power passed him and the feeling is great.
Coming up to 140 I have made several car lenghts on him the 65 still pulling,
then disaster, The Merc suddenly felt as if it was pushing a brick wall
uncannily quiet, this was the same feeling I got when trying to pass the M3.
I looked at the speedo and it was showing a tad over 155. I had hit the limiter.
Why should the most powerful 4 seat production car on the planet be limited
to 155. The problem now was the Porsche catching me, and the roundabout ahead was in sight. Luckily he started to brake before he could get passed, and the 65's brakes were better, so I beat him to the roundabout and he went off in a different direction. The question is do I de -limit and does it
affect the warranty. Any body out there had their car de-limited. I never
imagined they would limit the 65.

Try reading my thread,you woodentop.
It states a dead straight dual carriageway at least 2 miles long.
You certainly don't KNOW!!!

Because you don't know , dual carriageway (unlimited) national speed limit applies= 2 lane freeway, no oncoming traffic. Get it!!

sound 8 bigben 320e manners

bigben 320e you are out of order. And you are a senior member.

The reason I joined MB Forum was because I needed help from other
members. I was at my wit's end with a vibration on my S class that
nobody could diagnose, so I posted it but only got a handful of replies
none could help. I really thought that someone could have helped.
Then I posted a thread about why Merc's were much cheaper in the states
for discussion, again only a few replies. Then I realised that all the members want to talk about was racing and patting each other on the back, instead
of being helpful. When I posted AMG not that fast, it got huge replies, the story was true, and I hoped someone had an answer, I know now that I hit the limiter, but no one suggested it. All I got was abuse ,and you as a senior member suggesting you find out my IP address and check on me, very unprofessional!! And what's the age of a car got anything to do with it?
I am not a troll, I do have 4 Mercedes and I was hoping to bring someting
maybe advice to the forum. I think you owe me an apology.

About the super fast M3 CSL:
"The CSL used has certainly received plenty of attention in preparation for the run. The interior was discarded, and replaced with a roll cage and race seat, while windows and various items of bodywork were exchanged for lighter equivalents.

The exterior also gained some go-faster fins on the wheelarches and a GTR-alike wing. More importantly, the car rides on a bespoke K&W, suspension set-up with big Performance Friction brakes.

Oh, and did we mention the small matter of the supercharger which boosts the CSL’s already healthy bhp figure to around 600bhp."

The MB will probably lose? It looks like the M needed a bunch of mods to beat the next 5 stock Benzs. Just because some Benz's cater to creature comforts doesn't others can't handle a technical track.

You do realize that it was compared to a black edition which is far from stock and the other merc. (btw nice try at editing the list to prove your point___FAIL) on that list were all out race cars but thanks for reinforcing the fact!!!!!!!!!! we all need to let this one die. Sound 8 ; just let it go!!

Now since no one likes to read I posted those # because one of you claimed that the Merc. DTM edition would be fatser than the M which IT CLEARLY IS NOT!!!!!!! That was only there to back up what I was saying with actual proof not conjecture like most of you!!!!!
Thanks for proving my point. Your own posts/claims contradict your own facts. Unless when you talk about M cars you only mean one extremely moldified M3 CSL with its seat's removed. M3, M5, M6, and Z4M's that anyone can buy must not count, since they have been proven by your own data to LOSE to street legal Mercedes that anyone could buy. Now the saddest data item on your list is the M5 wagon having the same time as the Maybach. I'm more than happy to admit the new M3 is a bargain track car compared to the Benz's, but so is the Corvette Z06.

The loaded M3 only had the rear seats removed (front interior was still there) and BTW was still street legal!!!!! Now the Black series with all of it's extra goodies (all you have to do is look at the front of the car) is in NO WAY A Base Ccar. Factory option yes, but the reason that that list was posted (again you need to learn to read) was because somone claimed that the black series was a better car on a track than the M which IT IS NOT IN ANY CONFIGURATION!!!!!!!!! Now this has been beat to deat so before you post up again dunderhi I suggest you READ ALL THE POSTS!!!! Since I think that this is to much work for youI will sumerise:
Merc>BMW IN A STRAIGHT LINE
Merc<BMW ON ANY TRACK
This is not an opinion it is fact!!!!! Don't know how else to put it to you. You might want to go read up on how to set up car (hp is not everything my friends) before you go showing how missinformed you are on the topic!!!!!!!!!
