CL65 depreciation: Where will it slow down?

I am possibly pulling the trigger on a 2005 CL65 with relatively low miles (20k) in the high $50s.

However, I keep having second thoughts that the car will continue to depreciate rapidly. But how much more can this car go? It has already depreciated almost $130k in less than 4 years. Pretty soon people will pay you to take their 65's away.

But in all seriousness, where will these cars' depreciation finally slow down?

Thanks

I don't think there is a stopping point anytime soon. The repair expenses scare most buyers out of the market. The only thing keeping them propped up now is a warranty.

they will be in the $30's soon enough....

They are not recognized by too many people as any different then a CL class with AMG package.......so that reflects the demand .........some have already gone through the auctions for high $30's ....a 2006 with 15k miles just sold a few weeks back for $47k....nothing wrong with it...

It won't stop. Depreciation is not your biggest enemy. The market is flooded with cars, especially high end cars. You can get almost nutbrain prices on cars, don't accept anything less. IMO.

I look at it this way, if you want the car, then get it. Any car you purchase is going to depreciate (we all know this). If you have the disposable income to buy it now, then buy it and enjoy it. Don't have buyer's remorse and look back on it, it will only keep you from enjoying your new vehicle. Good luck with the purchase, sounds like a pretty good deal.

I bought my CL65 for 67grand in March, there are a couple for sale at the moment going for under 50grand, so a CL65 is not an ivestment like I thought it might be, but look at it this way.
So you got 50k in the bank. Can you see it, can you drive it, can you look at it,Nooooooooooo. All you can do is say " I got 50k in the bank" now if you spend it on a CL65 ,you can drive it, look at it, polish it what ever turns you on. Money.......is for spending, aint no good for anything else, you may be dead tomorrow then all that happens is someone else will get it. Go on
BUY IT!!

Rapid Depreciation will continue until our economy starts growing

I would buy it at the right price for you and only you can determine how much you are willing to spend... I purchased a use 05 E55 with ultra low miles on it 6 months ago and have seen prices continue to decline about $1,000 per month or more. I thought I was safe as E55's have a cult like following and I am a Kool aid drinker from that faucet... My great deal is no longer a great deal but I LOVE THE BEAST!!! Already looking into various mods and purchased little things like Renntech CT Airbox, Eurotech CF Front Chin and AMG 80mm TB... What ever you buy just enjoy it. I plan on keeping it for a long time and possibly adding another AMG to the garage at some point ( for my wife wink wink )... CL65, SL55, SL65 or CLK63 Cab when prices are low enough for me to afford to put onto my HE loan... Best regards, Joseph

Every thing big and expensive is going to drop like a stone, if you think that
a CL65 3 years old has lost as much as possible, like all prestige cars they will
carry on dropping, perhaps in smaller ammounts but you don't buy it for an investment, you just have to bite the bullet. Never mind when you put your foot
down it will bring a smile to your face even though it's loosing dosh.

Why not, as long as you earn enough to pay your monthly bills, all extra should
be spent on cars, all mine does, I have no savings but 4 Mercs.
What's the point of having excess money, money is for spending!!!

To invest means you will have more money to look at!!
If it doesn't hurt someone else or yourself then money is for spending.
Your only here once, I know a lot of rich dead people.
What would you rather have, 30k in the bank and a beaten up old hatchback
on the drive, or nothing in the bank but a gleaming AMG on the drive.

I'm sure that one is a scam.

There are 2 identical ads; one in Washington and another in the Midwest somewhere. I did not bother calling when I saw it.

I would have been all over it if it were legit.

That is a great reason. It's always wise to prepare for those rainy days.

I have to agree on that, these days about 6 months of expenses are needed on hand. I would strongly advise it.

People keep saying saving for a rainy day,

but every day is a rainy day if you don't have an AMG, think on it,

You'll agree.

An AMG will get you through times of no money, better than money will get you through times of no AMG
