Mercedes amazes me....Miles are a number...2 CL65's tested

a 42k mile CL65 and a 13k mile CL65 are tested .....which one is better?

I let my uncle who owns a CL65 with under 14k miles on it take my 997 for a few days... well he had to leave his car at my facility while he borrowed mine...

He has owned the car since new and the man doesnt put miles on anything because he has a company car and a weekend F430 toy.......

Now I have my car the 42k mile car and his the 13k mile car at my place....

So I experiment.... why the **** not? I want to see if the miles are a significant factor in driving both cars and which one has more power....

Lets start here.... I took both cars on 3 hour journey....I went over speed bumps ( carefully ) I respect these cars more then my friends....I went on the highway and brought both cars to 120 mph....I also accelerated both cars from a roll (I ease into the throttle) about 5 times each....

My conclusion:

The 42k mile car is a lot faster... It spins at 60 on the roll....It shifts faster as well...........
The 13k mile car feels flat.... like it is missing something... I am assuming the low miles has it wind up too tight....
The 42k mile car has zero creaks and rattles as the 13k mile car...
I did have one noise in the 42k mile car..but it was the pass. visor not clicked in.....
The wind noise is identical on both cars....
The 13k mile car has squeeky brakes .....but the noise went away after driving a while.....
Both cars stop the same .....
the 13k mile car had the check engine light pop up and the car was hesitant to start.... it is obviously under warranty and is going in tommorow...

If you covered the odometer and you didnt know.... you couldnt tell the difference... actually 42k miles is **** for a car of this nature... but I cant find a 80k mile car around and this was the best comparison i could make....

***Well.....there you go..... WHAT is the overall differance in a low mile car and a higher mile car? Well a factor for sure is how it is taking care of... but again I have found out like I did with my CLS55 .......(my CLS55 was in better condition then a 8k mile car)miles are a number and these cars are BUILT TO LAST........

I am going to post pics of both cars side by side .........

I will have both cars at my place for a few more days so if anybody wants to take them for a ride.... I encourage it.....lol

CL65 AMG
it may be that since the transmission/car adapts to your driving style over time, that the lower mileage car hasnt been driven as aggressively as the higher mileage car, therefore, the shift patterns and power distribution may be different...wide open throttle should be the same on both tho...i'm no expert, just throwing out a suggestion...does anyone know the nature of the "adaptive" transmission/ecu?

Yeahi will try this ... it is at the dealer now...

I thought about the ECU sneak attack.... good idea.. I will see when it gets back from the dealer.....

I told the GM who was visiting at the dealer that there were only 194 built and he was also in shock... he said that is a lesser number then the SLR production.....

I will have to look into that claim.... but still these cars ROCK ....

You seem to be VERY excited about this whole production number thing eh? Every board that I visit on this forum I always see you talking about the productions numbers... and how rare the CL65 is... then some more about how rare the CL65 is...

Lol it's pretty impressive isn't it? A CL65 is rarer than an SLR according to the stats he posted. That's a nice fact to know.
