Thinking about moving on

Hello, everyone:

I've decided it's time for a change, so I'm putting the 63 up for sale. In reality, it would be a lease assumption for the remaining 24 months. Total miles allowed 39,000. The car presently has 7300 miles, which is well under the allowed miles. With Lo-Jack and wheel warranty, total $3224/mo.

112Majestic Blk/801Blk with Black Ash wood.
057 iPod integration
P2 (Rearview monitor, Night View Assist)
Distronic Plus Pkg (Parking Guidance, Distronic Plus, Blind Spot Assist)

PM if interested.

Good luck.. can you tell us what your looking to replace the CL with? Are you offering a cash incentive for this take over? I have had good luck with lease assumptions via leasetrader.com in the past.

Deniska, I'm not sure yet with what I'll be replacing the CL63. I guess it will depend on how soon (if at all) the lease assumption can take place. As far as incentives, I'll discuss that with individual prospective buyers. It's too soon into the process to make that decision. Thanks for your inquiry.

Changed my mind

After thinking about it, I'm going to keep the car after all. I often get bored with a car by about the second year of ownership, and it was starting to happen to me again. However, after pondering this dilemma a bit longer, I think it's worth holding on to the 63, as there are so few of them around. I've only seen a couple in Miami, unlike other exotics which are more abundant down here. I like some exclusivity, even if it's short-lived. Had I made the change, I think I would have downsized and gone for a 911 Carrera S with a 6-sp manual. Very different vehicle altogether, and quite beautiful, but not quite as comfortable as the 63 as my daily driver. Maybe I'll revisit this when the 998 model debuts. For now, thanks for all the looks and the few inquiries.

I have both CL63/030 and 997S/Cab/6 speed and I think that both are great and appeal to same type of person. Difficult to explain to someone that is not familar with both cars because at first glance not similar at all but in many ways really are alike. The 997 Cab spends most of time in the garage, although the weather in Baastan (suckiest on the PLANET), may have something to do with it.

Have you thought about the new Panamera? I beleive that it's actually 2" wider than the CL! That should take care of the Porsche comfort issues and give you something very special at least for a period of time.

http://www.topgear.com/us/features/m...FQETGgod8nm9cQ

BTW. saw some pictures of 2010 CL and only very minor cosmetic change in front light (same as 2010 S), with LED turn signals. Don't expect anything else like blip on downshift.

Given state of economy and expenditures by car companies on design and model life, the current gen CL's in future may be thought of as best ever made.

2010 CL65
Did my P sabbatical a few yrs ago (996TTS, 997S, 997TT)

Only P I'd seriously consider is 997GT2 (but passed after a test drive; its Luddite gearbox is too codgerly to be taken seriously)...the others are amusingly underwhelming (even in twisties) vs any AMG CL....but truly allow one to fully appreciate brilliance of AMG engineering

Panam looks pitiful...a fugly hatchback w/elderly technology, non-ergonomic PDK buttons and an exposed mega-cupholder for the obese driver...if needed kid-hauler, would much rather drive a new S65

Can you post a link to the 2010 CL updates? Thanks

Sorry, I can't find the link, I had it yesterday. There were very detailed pictures of the headlight assembly with only a small piece of black tape over the LED's that are in a line directly below the headlights. The shape of the headlight assembly is slighty different looking.

I did find this link about a new dash display for 2010 call SPLITVIEW.

http://www.ridelust.com/2010-mercede...ew-technology/

And WSH, tone it down a bit. I always thought that there was too much caffine in Strarbuck's coffee.

If any of you are interested this like will tell you about what I do.

you have lost your mind.

A 997 Turbo, or even a new DI 997.2 Carrera S would absolutely embarrass an AMG CL around turns.

Pretty easy when it weighs about 1500lbs less.

we get it, you like AMG. But can you at least use a bit of common sense?

Like any good conversation, the topic can migrate a bit. I expressed my initial thoughts. Got a response. Then I modified my idea, expressed it, and got more points of view. I do see the point of this thread and appreciate everyone's input. I'm glad to read that at least one person was not shocked when I said that I was considering a 997 to replace my 63. I think the 63 is an extraordinary car, and I truly enjoy driving it, but the reality is that, although I can afford it, in these troubled economic times, I sometimes wonder if it is wise to spend so much on a car. The 997, costing half as much, might have provided an equally satisfying, albeit different, driving experience for me. I've driven the 997 TT and my own 63 on the Homestead track, and I can attest to the fact that the 63 is quite capable, but very heavy. It will eat through a set of tires in a day. The 997, being lighter, does much better in turns, but the 63 could certainly keep up. All these cars are variations on a theme, and that is power to weight. In capable hands, each vehicle can deliver thrills with a margin of safety. That's why we buy them, drive them and talk about them. Not everyone appreciates conversations about cars, so sharing one's views with friends at work or otherwise is often awkward. That's why we're quite fortunate that forums like this one exist. I'm in a profession where all I do is give of myself. I give my time, my knowledge and sacrifice even the basic human needs like eating and sleeping to save lives. Sometimes I get a "thank you," but often get nothing but personal satisfaction, which is perfectly fine. Treating myself to a beautiful car is a reward to myself, and sharing my thoughts with like-minded people, such as those in this forum, is quite refreshing. Again, I'm sorry you don't see the point in the discussion, but I certainly do, and appreciate it.

I love conversation, just look at my posts and you will see.
The reason for my reply was first you wanted to sell. then you changed your mind. I was not trying to kill anything off.
