CL65 ECU TUNE: RENNTECH VS. VRP,KLEEMAN,EVOSPORT,K1...

Plan on purchasing a cl65 in about a week. whats the difference in ecu tunes on these cars from say renntech,kleeman,vrp,evosport,k1 and the others. i notice that renntech and kleeman charge more than vrp and evosport. is it just the name? I see renntech offers a tcu upgrade also. plan on doing ecu, intake, intercooler, exhaust mods to really make this thing fly. anyone?

I would give VRP a try, they are coming out with their VRP825 kit pretty soon. I have a deposit on it and can't wait. have you seen Marko's White CL run? its a featherweight with this kit consisting of IC's, Scorpion intakes, and a tune. Just search on the W211 forum, you will not be dissapointed.

Renntech

HI there I can't say what the differences are or which one is better but I can tell you the Renntech upgrade works awesome. I have the ECU/TCU & suspension module so far and I am just getting ready to purchase the Carbon Airbox and intercooler pump. I'm sticking with Renntech as I am very happy with what I have so far.

+1 I think you should...You might just need the bigger IC's with intakes...would make a world of a difference I bet. These car suffer from heat soak. This is a super fix, not a bandaid. lol!

You think I should still get the Hi Flow intercooler pump that Renntech has or will VRP have something as well for that upgrade

As far as I know they will provide the IC pump as well. The pump they sell is no different than a regular pump. Talk about a price tag of 3K...

The RENNtech I/C upgrade and airbox are going to cost you about $9,500 before installation. If you are going to spend that kind of money, you should do the VRP package...the most I have seen from the RENNtech package is 610+rwhp...whereas Marko has put down 692rwhp from a package (including software) that is marginally cheaper.

I'm very happy with my VRP set up. There is no performance package out there that comes close in power. The car still drives exactly like stock. You can't even tell that there is anything done to the car. Leaving a 200ft long patch of smoldering rubber at 40 mph might give it away though.

I'm betting your cat-less no muffler exhaust system might raise a few eyebrows too

(Last I heard you had a cat-less downpipe system fab'd, if I'm wrong please excuse this post)

We did fabricate a cat-less downpipe system. The mufflers and the rest of the system remain stock.

Unless I missed it. It seems like the way to go for upgrades ( cost effectively anyway ) would be vrp by this thread. That answer's the op's question lol.
