Wow! ok, you were not joking.... You are clearly missing the entire point, this part is for aesthetics! No one here thinks by adding this, their car will be on par with F1 aerodynamics. This is a cosmetic upgrade!
Please also do not feel the need to educate me on aerodynamics. As we design, test and manufacture aero part for 6 professional race teams.
If you are looking for your CL to have aerodynamics similar to an F1 car, then this is not the part for you, or even the car for you.
If you have any other questions, please PM me, because I feel like you just wasted space for nothing. If you knew as much as you think you know, you would not have asked in the first place if a part that goes on the back of the bumper creates down force..

But you have to admit, that was a really stupid question. Not everyone buys mods for their car only for aerodynamic improvements. It almost sounded like he was flaming us for wanting to make our cars unique in our own different ways. Not everyone lives and breathes track.
I would have to agree with everything Neal said and I would have probably responded the same way as well. Stupid questions call for smart answers.

What twill are you making them out of? What's the thread count? How thick, or how many layers?

2K is the thread count. There are 2,000 fine threads in each tow. That's each "big" string. Maybe it's a "potato" "potatoe" thing.
When I order CF cloth, my supplier asks me what thread count I want? 3K? 6K? 12K? and so on. Then, of course, they ask what I'd like to order: twill, satin or plain, 2x2, 4x4 etc. Then, comes color. then of course, how many yards of the stuff I want. Then, the all important Credit Card number and I'm all set.
Good luck with the project. I thought about making my own diffuser a while back, but I'm going to wait till I get the autoclave I'm making up and running, first. Vessel is there. Supporting components (bungs, vacuum and pressure pumps, heating elements, insulation, etc.) are there. Just a matter of not enough time to get a welder to turn one of the end caps into a pressure door.
