Alright, add me to the CL65 amg club...
Just got one off Ebay. Needed a 4 seater real soon, test drove a black 06 at my dealership last week. Perfect car for what I was looking for. Had 36k miles though, wasn't super clean (prob just good condition), had keyless go and parktronic and warranty but dealer wanted 59k! (plus I really wanted a white one since there's two other black ones in the area.).
Went on ebay saw a squeaky clean 05 white/beige, 1 owner, 18.5k miles, spotless carfax, keyless go. Bought it for 52.9k. The downsides, no warranty (uh oh!) and no parktronic (going to install an aftermarket one though so I don't really care that much). I thought it was a better deal than the black still though, even with no warranty it had half the miles and was twice as clean, plus I needed white and couldn't wait.
Now, what can I do about an aftermarket or dealership warranty? The warranty ended on the car so there's no chance for an extended. I heard it's like 5 grand for dealership warranty but haven't confirmed anything. Are there any good, aftermarket warranties out there? Is it worth spending 5k for a dealership warranty? Are there any independent warranty companies out there? Any leads?
And last question... What's the deal with the rims on my car? I know they're amg but they're chrome. I really wanted the gunmetal and I thought all the cl65's came with gunmetal rims as standard equipment. Were they optional or did the prior owner throw on these other rims?
Here's the car:

ps: Thanks in advance for any info. We'll talk about ECU/TCU upgrades next topic, lol.

Congrats and welcome to the "club"! I think Chrysler Service Contracts has worked for a number of members. You can probably get the wheels refinished in the OEM gunmetal. They previous owner probably painted them. Where are you located?

Thanks guys! Yea, I remember hearing something about the Chrysler Warranties a while back. Hopefully other members will chime in with more details.
I didn't do much due diligence on the repair stuff for this particular car (was too busy looking into aftermarket power upgrades, lol), but I've had over 10 benzes so far and no serious problems with any. My old 2004 sl500 and my loaded 2001 s500 would just throw off lights here and there and I'd have to replace sensors and whatnot, mostly electronic stuff though, no serious engine or suspension problems that I can recall. Is the cl65 gonna be a mini nightmare or is it usually just electronic stuff?
As for the rims, yea I can't even tell if they're shiny alloy or chrome. I think they might be these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-M...ht_2716wt_1201
Are those the same as the gunmetal except without the gunmetal coating?
I'm in NJ btw.

What a beautiful car! It will be much nicer without the chrome wheels, tho'...there's a black S550 in town with 'em and it looks hideous to me. Try an outfit called Warranty Direct: they've covered two things so far for me without a hitch.

Congrats!
Contemplating a CL65 purchase is similar to contemplating a trip to Vegas with your buddies. You know it will be a lot of fun and has great potential of getting you in trouble. In the end, you never come home with any regrets.

Thanks guys. Car is on route and should be here by the end of the week hopefully.
Yea, who would ditch the stock rims for chromes?
Nice Vegas analogy, lol, I'll be looking into those 3rd party warranties.

White CL65 with tan, the best color IMO.
Fantastic car, the best road car I ever drove. Bought it for my wife, but I look for any excuse to drive it and I am impressed every time.
I did not want another black or silver one and the only factory covered CL I could find was Flint grey with 23k miles. I like the color a lot, but would have preferred white. I have no parktronic either. I wonder if someone could install a backup camera on the OEM screen. Remote start also.
My factory warranty expired this week, I paid +/- $1300 to certfy it for an nextra year and 100K and another $4000 to add 2 years. I am no expert, butI think they all came with the platinum colored wheels, but they had problems with the paint, si instead of fixing it the previuos owner might have chromed them. Not my preference, but o well..
