CL65 AMG Cost of..
Ignition Coil Module $1,300
Spark plugs and insulators - $1,350
Appearently these are the two things setting off the "Check Engine" light on the car with 26k miles on it??????
The ignition module is probably around $900 and $400 sounds fair to replace it considering the amount of work involved.
$1,350 is a little excessive... there are 24 spark and that gets expensive. I don't see a reason for replacing plugs at 26K miles though.
Could they suggest a cause for this premature replacement? Is there a bulletin on the car concerning this area?
Just some thoughts.

Tom
They said they would not guarantee the "check engine" light would go off if the plugs were not changed out. They said it was one of the "codes" that popped up. I just wanted to get the light off as it has come on 2 times in the past 4 weeks like I said....sounds fishy to me but it is a MB dealership and it is not easy to build a $180,000 car with "low cost" maintenence I guess.
I have honestly never had issues with any car like I have with this touchy piece of German Engineering. May be the first and last MB for me.

And then you have 24 spark plugs that you need to change!
Get the SA to give you codes print out.
Better yet go to Auto Zone or any local auto parts stores, most will read out OBDII codes for you for free or nominal fee.
Let us know what they are.
When he brought it in for a tuneup, they said it would take 12+ hours. When he asked why, they told him it was because they had to take out the back of the interior to get at the spark plugs that were in the front of the engine.
Twas' ever thus....

PS
The NSX is much easier to work on!
