go get a scanner and read it. problem is - if you are posting that kind of question here, you most likely will not be able to assess if the code means bad news or not.
Ignoring the CEl can lead to very costly repairs.
Code reader plugs in under your driver side dash and can be purchased from harborfreight tools for about 50 bucks or as mentioned read for free at places like autozone.
Post the code when you have it and then we can help you fix the issue and the light will go out by itself.
Don't listen to anyone that tells you to disconnect the battery
That will turn off the light but you will be burying you head in the sand,
Do it right and fix the issue
