Why are the MB emblems different?
Perhaps strange for a first post, but I'll be in the market soon (closing on my first house within next few weeks) for a CL63/600/65 (if good deal can be found on the 65) and I'm curious about why some of the 63/65s have the 'solid acrylic-front' style emblem and others have the 'vented' style emblem? Forgive my ignorance of the proper way to describe this - I've attached a picture of each type.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I believe the one that is solid has the Distronic option, while the open emblem does not. I like Distronic, but I prefer the open emblem - what are you gonna do?

That's really interesting - I had no idea that it would have actually served a purpose! I much prefer the look of the vented/open one and haven't had the opportunity to try the distronic. My search is going to be pretty particular, white ext with either savannah or designo porcelain interior, so it will likely come down to what is available on the car(s) I find.

That's correct, the solid one has Distronic + . You must get the Distronic +, i have it on my S-Class , it's brilliant. Once you have tried it you will want it.
