Kleemann kompressor kit for 2002 CL55

I've made some enquries regarding ordering Kleemann kompressor kit for 2002 CL55. It would cost 17,800 SGD just for the kit excluding labor.

Next question, is it worth it? How much labor are we talking about and whether it will fit. Do I need to order different headers?

Upgrade to CL55

I have a 2001 cl55 and have had similar thoughts to upgrading. The question is "is it worth it?" I think the answer is NO! You can buy a 2002 Kompressor for low $100ks now. And then ask yourself, "do you really need the power"? The standard car is quick enough I think, especially with our speed fanatic cops everywhere in Melbourne. How much power do we need these days..maybe I am getting older. having sold my Ferrari 355 last year I find the CL is almost as fast with heaps more grunt.

I saw your thread on the door control unit. Mine has just failed too. It was causing my battery to darin overnight. I have had a quote from MB for $864 as a "special" price for the part. I just replaced my ABC pump and got a "special" on that as well, but still cost over $3,200 fitted. Hope you don't get this problem as it seems its common place.

I would really need a professional answer to my Kompressor question.
CL55 AMG goes 0-100 in 5.7 sec, with Kompressor it will be 4.7, 4.8 + add ECU upgrade after that it will shred another 0.2 seconds. Then we have a reall top performance.
I sold my Porsche 911 carrera 2004. I was fed up with unconfortable seats and constatn back pain after traffic jams or long trips. Porsche is good for 10-30 min trips which makes no sense having it as a drivable vehicle everday.

My CL55 has been serviced all the way in MB and had ABC recall done on the including ABC pump and hoses about 23k ago. Current spedo 90k. So I'm not really worried about it.
Btw, there are two door contol switches there is main, that costs $1674 (i had to replace it) and smaller on which is yours $864. I had no time to wait, so I got it from MB. But if you have some time you can order it from internet, i'm talking about main switch for about $500 USD.

ABC pump

thanks for that info...can you tell me more about the ABC pump recall. I had a recall recently for the hose but not the pump. When you say there are 2 main switches in the door..mine is the drivers side door control unit. Don't know which one that is. Is it the main one or the secondary unit?

I too have thought about upgrading, but as I don't want to put this car on a track as thats not the point of it, I feel that I can wait an extra second to get to legal speed. We have so many speed cameras here its ridiculous now. LIke you I sold my sports car..although I still have a '73 911E. One of the original 7 RHD brought into this country. It was garaged in '76 and never driven again..until quite recently. Has a genuine 53,000 miles on it and its like new..great fun to drive occasionally.

Ok. It depends on the nature of your problem. If any of driver's door controls don't function etc it's the master seat switch ($1674) that's for sure. Window switch control ($864) plays secondary role. If master doesn't work then window switch won't work. You have to test master first using some electric tools if that's functioning ok. If it works then move on to window control unit.

In my case pump was changed as well. Previous owner did it. I've checked it via MB dealer.

Thanks for that. My problem is that for now reason the battery can go flat..as in totally flat..overnight. It seems there is a drain somewhere. The MB dealer believes its a faulty front door control unit. All my functions work fine on the controls. I have read other threads that indicate this can cause flat battery issues.

Do you know if the ABC unit was changed under a recall notice. MB tell me there wasn't one even though though I read how many of theses pumps go.

17,800 SGD (Singapore dollar) = 12,417 USD, it is expensive. Ok. I'll communicate with Kleemann USA. Thanks for pointing that out.
