is this a good price for a CL55?
Im strongly considering buying a 2004 CL55. It has 75000 miles on it, and it looks perfect. The seats look like they have never been sat in. very clean. Kleeman package, stage 1 I think, belts and ecu. It has all service records from the dealer ship, and Im having a full check up by Mercedes before buying. The asking price was $33,999, we agreed at $30,000, and he wont budge. Aftermarket rims, 19s, and comes with the originals, minus tires.

yea, I think so. At this point im not sure I have time to sit and choose rims, and upgrades and so on. Theres a big difference between stock and a slightly modified car, and done correctly can be a big difference. Plus, its local, and i could find a car a thousand miles away for 3k less, but is that worth it?
I just want to make sure Im in the right ball park, you see the same year from 36000 to 24000, so thats a good margin.
I dont know too much about the CL55, how does it compare to others makes and models of the same year? Could i be getting something way fatter for the money?

my .02 cents
Dont like the rims at all, kleeman upgrade meaning he's probably driven the car harder than a typical cl55 owner (possibly) and 75k miles is a little on the high side. I personally wouldn't buy it due to the fact of high miles and also performance upgrades. If you shop around you can find car with <50k miles for high 20's to low 30's. Thats where I would shoot for and buy from someone that hasn't done engine mods.

2005 CL 55 AMG
I paid 30000 for my 2005 cl55 with 60000 miles one year ago in delaware. Has all the bells and whisles and runs like a champ. I also got a pre inspection. The mercedes thec said go for it. All said and done I bought this car because it felt right most likely not the best way to buy a car but I havn't looked back.If you can move up to 2005 I belive they don't have as much problem with the abc system but I could be wrong about that.Good luck and happy motoring.

IMO...mucho denaro
Although a few more miles this is a better vehicle IMO and much cheaper too. Although it is "off the market" now I suspect a reasonable offer may change that

2004 CL55
In my opinion as well, that's too much money. I had mine for sale for a while and it is in great shape. Never had anything even close to 30K come in as an offer, unfortunately.

It kills me how many of these things Benz cranked out without 'any' options.
Honestly, in a $120,000 'Flagship' car, you'd think Benz could have at least thrown in the Keyless Go (many other makes at a fraction of the cost of these have it standard).
Personally, the factory options weigh much more heavily than bolt on options. Wheels and ECU changes can be done by any clown at any time but the factory options are what you can't easily (or cheaply) add on after the fact.
I refused to even look at any CL's without Keyless Go or Distronic so it narrowed my choices considerably. Fortunately, I held out for a really sweet 04' CL55 that has EVERY factory option that was available (except for the designer series) and I couldn't be happier. If you've ever driven one of these things with Keyless go etc, you'll never look back.
Just my 2 cents- Your mileage will vary.

Well we look back now and say that but when the W220/W215 was first launched back in 1998/1999 how many cars had Keyless Go then?

It's OK to update the standard options every once in a while during a model run.. Really ;-)

Mercedes S55 AMG
The price does seem high, and a tad bit too many miles - I also don't like those wheels too much. The stock wheels are really well-fitting for this car. I'd look for one with less miles, and stock. People don't put performance upgrades in a car like this to just tell people about it, they run it hard most likely! (This can affect stuff in the future, for example motor and transmission mounts can fail sooner if the car is pushed harder, stuff like that.)
But whatever you do, please try to get a warranty too - these are expensive to maintain so it's a great idea to have a warranty, from Mercedes itself if you can get an extended one.
