Picked up my CL55 yesterday
Black/Java/burl walnut, split spokes, parktronic, trunk closer, keyless go. The 03 CL 55 has little in common with my 02 CL 500 Sport. It is hard to belive that there can be that much difference between the two models, but it is astounding. I only have about 50 miles since I took delivery yesterday afternoon, but the car is simply awesome. It came through with Bridgestone Potenzas that, even though I have not even driven them enough to scrub the manufacturing finish off, are quite impressive on the wet roads we have had in Boston this weekend. (The 03 CL600 at the dealership yesterday also had Bridgestones). Cornering is amazing and I am sure that when I have 1000 miles on it, the acceleration will be even more impresssive than the slightly partial acceleration experienced so far. The sound is superb and the ride is perfect in the sport mode. This car feels much lighter than the 500 Sport, although it is a couple hundred pounds heavier. The seats are much more supportive, although the 500's seats are very good. Will probably remove the V8 Kompresor badges and maybe even the CL55 and AMG badges. Well, I am off to put some serious miles on it today. For those who have ordered their CL 55's, it will be well worth the wait.

dealer's
I have purchased numerous new benz's from foreign motors west
in Natick over the last ten years, I'm also a pre-owned benz
dealer so that might make my personal experience better
because I know everyone from the tech's to the general mgr's
very well. But I have also purchased vehicles from chambers
stores, But that's also because I have freind's in top position's
There as well. The tech's in the older more established
dealership's are excellent. That' because of shear volume and
expereince with all kinds of trouble. There's not a bunch of
young kids, there all mid 40's with 20+ years experince selling
and Trouble shooting allot of very high priced and highly technical
vehicles. Wich reqiure much more technical depth to solve
complicated problems. In wich I have had many myself
, But not one problem has gone unsolved from the time I have
Been purchasing these vehicles to resell or own personally.

I purchases my CL55 from Mercedes of Westwood/Clair. They have ocupied a new facility recently and it is most impressive, but I have been buying MB's and Porsches from the dealership for years and have been very satisfied with their service and attention. Most recently have purchased an 03 SL500 Sport, an 02 CL500 Sport and an 02 Carrera 4S. They have always done what they have represented and the techs, to the limited extent that I have needed to deal with them, are exceptional. Please email me if you want further information. I am not in the automobile business. BTW, having driven the ne SL and the CL extensively, I very much prefer the CL. The CL definitely has better brakes. If you really want a top down ride, then obviously the SL is the way to go, but it involves many compromises relative to the CL.

CL500 is the smoothest of the three. The SL, apart from having a cabin, is noisy on the highway with the top up and windows closed. I actually found that the 02 Carrera 4S was more comfortable on the highway and mine had Porsche Sport Exhaust. The CL55 feels about 300 or 400 pounds lighter than my 02 CL500 Sport, despite the fact that it is about 200 pounds lighter than the CL55. The 55 in normal ABC is very comfortable. I drive mine in the sport mode and am quite happy with the ride. it is not harsh, just very responsive. A remarkable and welcome difference from the CL500 Sport in either mode.

Of course, I meant to say that the SL has a much smaller cabin in my post above. I found it quite inconvenient compared to the CL.
That said, the SL is a very impressive car, so it is unlikely that one can go terribly wrong if they select one. The selection of a car in this price range is obviously a very subjective decision. Embrace the subjectivity and go with your heart!
