New 2011 CL63 will be more advanced than CL 65 at least that's what every article has said thus far.. Extra investment in CL 65 may be unwarranted...Originally Posted by yaroslav

Old Amg 5.5 with tune had 650hp(kleeman k4)
Interesting what will be the limit of the new one...

Comfort coupe with acceleration of supercars...Mercedes is going to make something amazing. But we dont know what will show bmw in a face of the new M6. As they promise 600+hp and 9000rpm

WSH is another poster here who always calls a POS any car that he doesn't drive at the moment (allegedly has CL65).
Claimed the new 5.5 TT was a POS and outdated junk(or something like that)...

Had the chance to test drive a 2011 CL63 for a week in California.
The testing was to review the stop/start technology. The car was overall fantastic except for the placement of the steering wheel paddles shifters. The location is too close to the wheel grip which causes your finger to get pinched.
While the car has over 565 hp, the torque off the line seems limited and is slow to leap. From 2nd gear its all power. The wet clutch makes the shifts smoooth and looses the agressive upshift feel.
This new CL63 is a great touring car. The turbo lag is slight but noticeable durring hard street driving, similar to the CL65. I believe the tuners will have a great time creating a real beast after getting into the ECU and Trans unit.
This car is detuned to be a touring coupe for the older consumer.
The suspension is softer, like an S class. The traction controll stops all wheel spin. Even after defeating the control, wheel spin is minimal.
I now understand that rebadging the CL to An S coupe is in the future both in name and proformance.
The start/stop feature causes the car to shutdown at a traffic light. Releasing the brake pedal starts the engine. This feature quickly becomes old, especially in bumper to bumper traffic. Claim is better gas milage. Actuallity is lower engine idle causing over acceleration and a feeling of turbo lag then excessive movement. Feature shuts off in sport mode.
Car needs some software tweaking and third party tuning.
Engine and Tranny have great potential.

Seems like you like the car as a touring, but as a performance car you are a bit unsatisfied..

I would have to say that the CL65 is still a faster car. Only now they have similar characteristics; slight lag then major torque. Dual wet clutches allows the tranny to absorb the additional torque. ( My opinion )Originally Posted by yaroslav

Seems like my beast will be in by December unless of course someone in these posts knows someone on the inside and we can get it earlier like the Europeans.. The European market should see the 011 CL63s in October/November and they'll hit US in November/December

This has probably been answered in other threads but have they ironed out the ABC and electrical problems that plagued the 215 chassis?
I know that they simplified the ABC system but i am not sure how much more reliable it is
After i am done with my 215 in about 2 years i am going to move to the new body style CL even though i don't think that the stock 63 sounds anywhere near as good as the old stock supercharged 55's

Love the new aggressive face lift, but dont like the new mirrors its identicle to the lower in class C-class, the rear lights still looks like British design, Jag or bentley, not a big fan of the tailights, also do not like the new american style reverse lights---- interior is beautyfull.

I have to admit,it's a very, very hot looking car and with it's technology,a CL to have (makes the CL65 totally obsolete and outdated)Originally Posted by im92109210
