Is it going to be like this???

Hi,

I am a newbie here. Just picked up my new toy... '05 CL65 AMG with 42K miles on it. 30 minutes after I drove off, engine light came on... Took it to the MB dealer and found out...

1. coolant pump is out
2. engine mount has a leak

To fix this, 3K$ needed..

3. Left side speakers are not working and MB dealer says I need to replace
the whole ampliphier... That will cost 3.5K$ and I can't put an
aftermarket radio....

I am in shock... I have owned a Maserati and the maintenance was crazy... That's why I got rid of it... Am I gonna face the same thing with this?

I am also looking for extended warranty... Pls advise...

Any suggestions on radio? otherwise, I will listen to radio without left speakers...

Thanks

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
You can

have an aftermarket unit installed you will lose the use of the steering wheel control of the radio.
Motor mounts are not that much and any good Mercedes indie shop can install them.
What was the cel code # ?
You really need to find a good non dealer shop it will cost you far less than the dealer and you will get better quality work.
Have the shop check the fuses and speakers
or have a good car audio place do it.

Did you follow the golden rule and have the car professionally inspected before purchase?
Gut instinct suspects that whoever sold you the car erased the cel before you purchased it and an inspection would have pulled up the code as pending and you could have walked.

I would go back to whoever sold it to you and make them cover part of the repair. Most likely they knew about the CEL code and said nothing about it. Hope it is not too serious of a problem.

+1

Yes, these cars can bite in the wallet but if you do your homework and get a proper warranty you should have no issues.

When I got my '04 600 I told the seller my purchase was on the proviso it passed a full inspection at the local MB dealer. The same inspection acted as a review for the warranty I purchased.

When these cars get to this age the current owners may not have enough $$$ to keep them properly maintained and just not get non-essential, or even essential stuff changed prior to moving the car on. Buyer beware!

Please, please please do an aftermarket stereo. You will not regret it. I did it, and absolutely love it :

And for the rest of the work, if you lived in Md I would be able to help you out. That seems like too much for a pump and a motor mount. Get a price on the parts at the parts dept at the dealer, and see if you can get someone to switch the motor mount and pump for you. dealers tend to mark up this service, and it is not rocket science.

good luck
