I have owned a CL55, SL600, S65, and now my CL65. I added the Kleemann LSD and the Full Speedriven ECU, TCU, and top mounted intercooler upgrades. My car has been bullet proof as far as reliability and has just under 41K miles on it. A few times I have had the itch to get rid of the CL65 and buy something else. When I go test drive other cars then get back into the CL I realize that nothing is even close to better of course in my opinion. I say keep the car if you can afford it and get Wifey a Hundai Genesis sedan. She would most likely be happy and you would save yourself a ton of money. They lease very cheap also. I still can't believe your CL65 has no options. How could AMG make a 190K car and not add keyless go, parktronic, and distronic standard. So friggin asinine!! I have all three options and I would definitely not like the car as much without them and would not buy an AMG without them. Anyway, good luck with your decision but I say keep the car!!!
I don't think I am supposed to come home with a Hyndai for her, good cars as they are.

I told her anything we're buying will not be driving as nice, we will see, maybe she will rethink after a few test drives, but I will sell the car before warranty runs out.
I actually like that it does not have parktronic, no ugly sensors on the bumper but it should have backup camera and remote start, both available aftermarket, but I have not bothered. German wifey can parallel park like a pro :-) I'm not big on gadgets I won't take the time to figure them out.

OK, I got the first trade in numbers last from a few dealers mid 30's and will negotiate further when I get back from travelling after next week.

Reduced price to $40,900.00.

If I wasn't power and speed hungry I would of purchased an E-55 instead of the CL65

First time mercedes, AMG owner here, used CL65 and my experience has been all good. I wanted to first try out a used but in excellent condition AMG and its been so good that I'm pretty happy saving a boat load of cash.

For the Wife/Family we bought a brand new Honda Odyssey a few years ago and it's really not that reliable (steering and brake/disc problems, etc).

I've been shopping for a black AMG ML63 2009 or 2008 if the price/miles is right..to replace that Honda.

My recommendation for you is a cherry mint used ML63! I've seen them as low as 55k.. And it's gonna have to drop soon hopefully.

I'd probably love drving that AMG too..

I bought into the Xentry/Das Diagnostic Tool, so that will come in handy.

If it is reliability you crave, I would be very wary of the US-made ML63, and this is coming from a Land Rover owner

Also, as regards mini vans, a friend of mine has the 2011 Toyota Sienna and loves it with no issues in 30,000 miles. We actually used it when six of us went on a fishing trip. Loads of space. There is also the all-new Infiniti QX 4x4 which is massive but very tough if you replace the 20s with 18s.

The ML (and GL) in general is not as well made as most other Benz models, since it is designed primarily for the US market and built in the US/Mexico, versus the other models that are designed for the world market and largely built in Germany.

The chassis used for the ML55 is the least reliable. The 2006+ ML, of which the ML63 fits, is generally of better quality than the previous ML, although still not as good as other Benz models. This is generally true for any company, though: the sedans are of higher quality than the SUVs, and cost less (BMW 5 vs X5, for example).

If you need an SUV, the 2006+ is going to be better than a Range Rover. Even the older ones should be. But you're much better off buying an E class.

I agree that the fit and finish inside it subpar, but the '06 R350 we leased was flawless for 20K miles and 2 years..

But I get the picture ;-) :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuxghiwjgQc

To further what Saintz says, there have been ML-related issues. Also, their is a class action suit pending on the 6.2 liter engine.

Hmm. Could explain why they replaced the 6.2 so quickly, but as long as I have CPO, I should be fine..

My GL450 is sooooooooooo much more reliable than my 215 CL600 was. The reliability of the GL is so much greater than the 215 it's not even funny. I have had virtually no issues and I've put close to 100,000 miles on my GL and it is still running strong. I plan on keeping the car for another 5+ years. It's a great vehicle.

Don't buy into the it's made in the USA so it's inferior line of BS. I would buy another in a heart beat. When they come out with the GL63 AMG, I plan on seriously taking a look at purchasing another GL.

That's true, the CL is really problematic, as well. At least the ML and GL have conventional suspension. I would still say the new C or E class are the best options for general use.

just keep the 65. the color combo you have is one of the rarest and best imo. at $40k your not going to get into anything close. it has a warr, clean title, semi low mileage and is in good shape. i still look at my 05 and say what a badass car it is. and it sits next to an 800hp c6z

I would not say "as well" because I've had no real issues with my GL. The 215 CL was always in the shop being repaired with a myriad of issues.
