Satellite Radio

I saw some old threads on this, but I just want to confirm...
If you push the SAT button and the display says “no satellite radio”. That means it’s not prewired and cannot be turned on, correct?
If I remember, my ML originally said “enter code”, before setting it up.

If the car does not have the option, anyone have any suggestions?

I just had this car delivered. No good pictures yet.

Thanks,
Frank

Mine had a message that gave me the car's radio's ID/(ESN) number, so I just called Sirius while in the car and gave them the number and they connected it. I've also read where you tune to channel 0 to get the number of your radio. So that means mine already had the hardware installed, it had just been turned off. If your radio can't give you the ESN number, it probably doesn't have the receiver installed yet. My 2004 Navigator needed one and I had it installed parts and Labor for $400. The dealer for MB will probably triple that from what I have heard.

P.S., you aren't my brother in law are you?

Thanks JHouse.
Who would pay nearly $200K for a car like this and not get this option?!

And no, I have one brother-in-law and he doesn't own any MB's! He takes lots of vacations instead.

No kidding.

But it's better than a vacation every time I get in the car (alone).

BTW: here is a great page for info: http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND++...rticle-54.html

You can figure out which system your car has so you can speak intelligently about what you need.

Buick T-Type, 70 cuda, S65 and a very FAST Truck!
Does your car have the satellite antenna mounted on the trunk? If not there is probably not a satellite receiver in it. If so it will display the ESN number on the sat display.

You can also take the trunk apart and look on the left side near the nav unit to see if the receiver is there.

Sirius Kit

I'm sure there's nothing installed for this option. Though I'm assuming that the head unit will accept all the parts... if I can get all the right parts. Anyone have any input on installing this "factory" kit?

Thanks,
Frank

Dealer Install $

I'm going to have the dealer install.
This is what they said.
"Frank, to install Sirius radio would be $1,189.00 parts plus $418.25 labor (ouch)"
