Star DAS

Hey All,

Could someone give me a brief explanation of what I can do to a CL65 with the “Star DAS”... aside from break the car. I’m assuming I can at least adjust the height of the car, and also adjust the headlights.

There are quite a few for sale on Ebay, with a wide range of prices. And I’m not really sure, aside from an old laptop, what the differences are.

I have some knowledge of OBD scanners. And I own a system called LDAS to perform similar functions to Lamborghinis.

Thanks,
Frank

Sds (das, mbstar, star, star diag, etc) is useful over a regular obd2 scanner for reading extended codes and performing actuations. Extended codes are often platform specific and sds know them all. Actuations are invaluable when troubleshooting because they allow you to turn on and off modules and asses them. Also newer versions of sds have nice diagnostic decision trees.

You might Or might not be able to lower your car with sds depending on your height sensors readings (you might be out of bounds by the time you have any meaningful lowering).

On which version you want- you want the oldest (biggest multiplexor box) as it is the 1:1 copy frm the Original. The newer versions with smaller boxes are Chinese mods and do have compatability problems. They all do pretty much the same but the new versions require periodic reactivations for the software as mercedes messes them up via the updates. I do not know which manufacturer now uses quality parts and who does not. Look for positive feedback I guess?

You do need a laptop with serial rs232 port. Serial to USB adapters might cause serious problems including bricking the main comm gateway on your car.
Good luck.
