Downshifting problems please help!

I was noticing major horsepower loss and heat soke when suddenly I found out my intercooler pump went bad so I changed it using the Bosch pump ending in 010, after my Johnson blew about 2 weeks into using it . However now I've notices my cars not downshifting into 1st gear when I go about 35-40 mph and mash on the pedal, is anyone else having this problem. I'm servicing my tranny tomorrow hoping itle solve the problem but when I'm cruising in sport mode going about 35-40 mph and get on WOT the darn thing downshifts into 2nd not first like it used too. Please help! Thank you

Could it be a bad conductor plate?

Reset adaptations stop by a good idependant merc shop and that could be your problem definatly the place to start and have them pull the ETC codes while there hooked up, conductor plates do act up but generally will put you in limp mode till your turn off and restart if everthing else feel good with the tranny have the adaptations reset.

Can you manually downshift into 1? And you're definitely in S mode, right? In C/Comfort mode, it won't go to 1st normally.

I would reccomend having your transmissions "ETC" codes pulled first. And then reset the adaptations if nothing is found.

I can be wrong in saying this but isn't 35-40 mph a little high to be putting the car into 1st gear? I'm pretty sure that its reved out already. Again, I could be wrong.

I'm not sure if they meant the "sneaky ECU reset" but that will change transmission shift points and you can do it yourself:

I serviced the transmission today, did the sneaky ECU Reset and still no luck. Should i go to a trusted mechanic and have him reset my whole car, ECU, transmission ?

Reset your transmission ECU
I had to do this with new conductor plate, adapter seal and new transmission oil and filter.

saintz, does this work for 04 CL55 as well? I've tried this before but it didn't seem to work

I believe it does. But you need to have all the doors closed, everything off, and basically just sit there patiently. If you get out of the car or turn the radio on or start tapping the brake impatiently, it will not work. I found you have to sit and just listen for the "click" sound when some magical relay resets something and clears the parameters.

Granted, this was on a different model. I need to try it on the CL.

I've done the sneaky Ecu reset and took my car to a trusted mechanic that cleared all the codes from the transmission and Ecu, still no luck the car feels sluggish most of the time, can anyone help!! I really need to solve this an nobody quite knows what the problem is. When I used to have the Johnson pump for about two weeks my car felt like a rocket and it's just been down from their even when I changed my pump to the Bosch ending in 010. Please help

My cars feels more responsive and powerful in comfort mode rather than the sport mode as well. =[ I'm starting to hate this beautiful car.
