Current auction pricing on 2005 CL65 AMG

Does anyone know what these are going for currently?
I've got my eye on one locally but it seems a bit overpriced since it's at the dealer.
Just wondering what I could bargain down to.

Thanks guys!

You have to compare apples to apples. It really depends on the miles, the color, number of owners warranty if any, and assuming a clean car fax. After 50-55,000 miles it seems the price drops considerably. Its sad to say but many will turn away a car without keyless go. As they change hands more and more just think of the type of person that goes for the 65...someone that wants to drive hard. Its addictive and i'm guilty at times. Look at autotrader.com and ebay and you should come up with something in the middle of what is a realistic value. Even aol has a classifieds search that will show listings from many different sites, even though some are old you see a larger selection. Just remember all the fun comes at a price with the maintenance. Don't go to a trendy lounge with hot women and complain about $14 drinks....It goes with the territory. To me its always worth it!!!

I agree completely but I know they purchased it from auction so I was just seeing what wiggle room I have when negotiations begin. It's priced higher than most similar in condition\mileage so I obviously want to get it at a reasonable price.

I've driven it and love it and "would" pay full price for it just from the enjoyment standpoint alone but that's not how I do business. I like to get a good deal that way I can enjoy more of the things I love and less overpaying for just a few.
It's worked out so far and was just curious of the current auction pricing on the car, simple as that.

A rough guideline- Assuming average condition fair price to you is 37-40k

They got it back in April is what he said. It's been sitting on the lot since then originally priced at $56k but it's been dropping since then and still unsold. Might have to get the Vin and crosscheck it out and see why it's been stagnate for so long.

Thanks for checking ALX

I ended up pulling the trigger on it.
Got it down to $36k + a 3yr b2b warranty for $3k.

Black on Black, every option, 55k miles. msrp $186k.

I honestly think I got an absolute steal overall and am completely loving the car.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone!

The car, assuming you did a PPI and it's no accident/no paintwork, sounds like a score. Congrats!

No Tier 1 company I know of would write a 55K mile CL65 for 3 year exxlusionary for $3K. No way on earth.

What warranty company was it from, what was deductible, and what level of coverage? This is one area where it may not be too good a deal and you should get refund and shop for something else.

Yes 1 owner locally, no accidents only repairs were a coilpack and coilpack ecu and flawless maintenance history.

GM warranty, 3yr\30k miles, $50 deductible.

I guess I am the hamburgerlererer

Gotta say I got a biggggg smile though!

pricing

I think 36k is a fair price, good job working the $tealer down that much. i have been watching and have seen 100,000mile variants sell for 28k and i have seen people ask 50k for a low mileage 05.

I think 3k for the warranty is suspect. I cant see it covering anything... shocks, radio, brakes, engine, transmission, electrical... if any of these things need work its over 3k. So you may want to confirm.

When i bought my car over 2 years ago I tried 2 warranty places and they both said they would not warranty the car. 1 national company quoted 8k for 1 year but I needed to get the car recertified from the dealer stating the car needed nothing... even the rep laughed. these cars do not make sense to warranty. If your m3 loses a shock its about 135.00 if the 65 has the same issue, the shock is 1600.00 the abc rodeo service is about 300.00 the valves for the ABC will most likely stick and need replacing. Also the ABC pump could also be bad 2000.00 . Yeah so as you can see not a 3k warranty car. I decided to save the 8k and have only put tires (3 sets) and brakes on the car. BTW tires are the cheapest consumable on this car.

Nothing is like an AMG65 enjoy it.

Upgraded w215 Key Possible?

hey tech gurus...

I wanted to get another key for my 05 cl65. i asked the dealer about options. They said all keys come from TX and I could get one overnighted. I asked about the newer (w216?) chrome key, but they said no. Not if I had the keyless go... which i do have. I can only get the standard key, but thought I should check with you first...

I did buy a new chrome key off ebay, which I guess is useless because it is not programmed to the car, and the dealer said they cant do it. I could get the key cut but thats it, no starting of the car. is this true also?

thanks...

Keys are very difficult. Like you say, only out of TX, I do not get my usual dealer discount on them, used ones are usually worthless, etc.

all the keys that i have seen off ebay have already been mated to some drive authorization system making them essentially worthless to the second user.

you can buy them strictly as a shell replacement.

I was told at the dealer that all new keys issued ( $230 I think ) are the chrome version . and that they dont issue the older style black housing anymore . Is that not true for some cars?

Just saw a 2005 CL65, 57K miles for $32,900 in Hollywood, FL, they said they picked it up off CarMax auction for around $29K. Silver with black AMG wheels.
has keyless Go, Parktronic and Disctronic. Needs new visors, drivers side Bose cover, steering wheel buttons, etc, but they said they will replace.

I have almost always bought from a privet party, and it's really paid off the last few years as some people just want the cash so they are just dumping their extra cars for cheep.

If you have the cash, you can get deals !
