Phoned the stealership for some pricing!! NWS PRICING!!!

So spring is coming and I wanted some work done on the CL65. That work being, replace the intercooler pump, replace the front and rear brake pads, oil change, and alignment. I have all of the parts excluding the oil. So this is what I got quoted:

Synthetic oil change and filter: $375
Labor to replace the front brake pads: $278.99
Labor to replace the rear brake pads: $202.87
Labor and brake fluid for brake flush: $264.82
Alignment: $213.15

and my favorite,

Replace the intercooler pump and bleed system: $660!!!

That is unbelievable LOL. That's almost $1800!!! BTW the shop rate is $145/hr up here.

Needless to say, I need to shop around.

$375 for an oil change? I'd love to get some of what they are smoking!

did you forget your operating a $190k automobile??

i imagine the $375 oil and filter change was actually a Flex Service that the cluster is calling for.

The other pricing i too am wondering, we only get $100 per axle on a brake job here in sc

I understand I am driving a $265000 car (up here in Canada is what they cost brand new) but I'm not an idiot. This isn't my first rodeo. The stealership rates up here are $145/hr. No way around it.

The $375 was for oil, filter and labor to do the oil change. Its not the "A" service they were quoting.

My indie shop called me back later on today and told me $1000 for labor including the oil change, alignment and replacement of 2 ABC hoses (which also includes doing the rodeo). I think I will stick with my indie shop.

There is no apriori correlation between service costs and entry price of a car. A car that costs more to purchase but is properly designed and implemented should be cheaper to service because it is more advanced.

This was the lesson of the NSX. It is a responsibility of the designer and the manufacturer to follow these ethical rules. Fer***ris used to use >$500per oil change until they admitted it was M1.

Why does a dealer in one part of the State charge $265 for an A service and others $399 for the same car?

Answer:we balance the tires.

Sounds like there's a lot of opportunity for getting into the indy shop business up there. Lots of excess profit at the dealer.

I can do $49.99 for oil and filter change at my local dealer (any V8 MB) but I still prefer to do it myself which cost few bucks more. I only bring stuff to them that I cannot do.

$89.99 for oil and filter change ($120 for V12) for any regular customers here. Plus they give $15% discount on top of that for most of the year.

I pay $89.99 for an oil and filter change on my Infiniti QX56. I knew I should of moved down to the states when the country was flat broke and selling things for pennies on the dollar.

My 94 supra costs almost as much to maintain as the CL65. My supra makes 670rwhp at 26 psi of boost all day everyday. Its fully modded.

26 pounds on 2jz - far from fully modded. 3 bars or go home

on the subject of oil change - mobil one is at least $7 at the store - 8 quarts is $56. quality filter is at least $15-20 for a total of $75. add some labor and the tab comes to about $100. i have no idea you can get that done at a place for $50.

brake flush and alignment at my local mb dealership (in ma) are about $150 each and labor is $147/hour. i would say at $200 for each you have found yourself an expensive dealer.

no comment on replacing the h/e pump. if this includes the price of the pump they are quoting you 2 hours of work which sounds about right if done properly.

I see 49lb on a supra before so 3 bar is not even fully modded . I wish MB can make their internals that can withhold this kind of boost.

When I do it myself, it cost about $52 per oil change (mobil one and authentic MB filter). Dealer can buy them in bulk so I am sure they pay less than $50 for sure. Beside, it's not an oil change that they make money of. When did the last time a normal customer comes out of dealer with just an oil change?

I left my printout at work or I can scan it here for you (won't be back there for at least 2 more weeks). It's $49.99. I can do twice a year at this price which is more than I need anyway as I put less than 10K on my MBs a year.

I am not sure about others in this area but I get up to $2000 discount on parts and labors at my local MB here per year (2 cards, $1000 each)

The dealer doesn't do a good job tho!

There is a Mercedes tax to pay. Now, add AMG tax, add V12 Tax that's why your oil change is crazy high. I was quoted $150 yesterday in a small shop to oil change my car. Same price as my dealer because its Mercedes AMG. For oil change, this car is the same as E500 not much different. A small indy shop should charge around $100 for oil change. The tech told me, you drive Mercedes that's why. If you come over and ask for Mobil one with Chevy $65. You pay extra just for "Mercedes" I walked away.

That's why I always try to get a quote on home repairs before they know what neighborhood I live in and what my house looks like. Massive variation.

Are these cl65's that hard to work on to where you need a mechanic to do the maintenance? I would think most of the work can be done by a DIY'er.

the simple things (oil/filters/brakes) are as simple as on other cars.

it is the electrical and abc stuff that is somewhat complicated and requires specialized knowledge...

I read that these cars have coil pack and ignition module issues, what other kind of electrical problems do these cars have? I would think someone with decent mechanical skills can change the abc hoses, struts and valve blocks and maybe even the pump. I've never worked on these cars so I'm just speculating.
