Replacing Tire after flat

Well driving here in NYC is not the easiest thing on this car so I ended up with a flat yesterday.

Cost me $316 to replace the front right tire but the interesting thing was in order for me to get the tire, I had to give my VIN# as per mercedes.

Anyone who has to replace a tire on the new ('03) CL55, be aware that they are not easy to find and are on national backorder. I lucked out but what a waste of $.

I had to replace a rear tire in april, about a month after delivery, due to a puncture. My recollection is that it cost $379 and that it was one of only a few in the MBUSA network. I had assumed that by now the tires would be easier to get. The Bridgestone 050's are far better on the CL than Micheline Pilot Sports, Dunlop Sport 9000's and Conti Sport Contacts, IMO.

Just curious, what happened to that tire that you had to replace it? Couldn't they fix the flat? I know it depends where the puncture occurs.

The puncture, caused by a medium sized screw, was about three inches from the sidewall. Far enough to plug the hole, but too close to us the tire except temporarily until the new tire arrived, which was a few days. I have kept the tire to use as a temporary replacement if absolutely necessary, but would not use it permanently.

I am not 100% sure...but I think someone shanked the side of my tire...which caused the puncture...so since it was on the side...it cant be patched up - not with this tire.

I also agree that the tires on the new CL55 are much better than the Pilots, Conti et al.
