CL Door Harness Design

I had an issue that I fixed yesterday and now have just read about another CL owner that may have the same issue.

See: https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...ign-issue.html

The rubber door accordion where the wiring passes through from the inside of the cabin to the door has a design flaw. Much like the trunk wiring.

Eventually after many open/close cycles the wiring gets severed and needs repair.

I was wondering why my audio was sounding muddy. Doh! The left side speakers were not working due to not one but FOUR severed wires in the accordion.

Same thing happened last year in the trunk where a ground wire severed from open/close cycles and took out the entire rear electronics. (Lights, trunk electronic open.close, etc.)

It is an easy fix, just takes some time to disassemble everything.

Mine has been having this problem intermitantly for the past year and a half. Its not to the point where the wires are broken yet. Its on my little list of things to do in the future. My indie mechanic has done this numerous times and knows what to do.

Sounds like yours is in the beginning stages of being partially severed. Given time it will completely severe like mine did.
