Clackedy clack? Valvetrain noise? What is it?
After I changed the oil to the 0w-40 mobil1, I seemed to notice a bit more valvetrain-sounding noise at idle. I'm just trying to be hyper aware of every little thing with this car, since I've only had it for a month.. Prior to this car, I've never used any oil weight lighter then 10w-30 before, so I'd imaging the much thinner oil will contribute to the sound.. What say you guys?

Where does the sound seem to be prevalent? Have you gone up and down the valve covers with a screwdriver to your ear? Does it get louder when the oil warms up?

No it does not get louder as the car warms up I'll try to shoot a video on my cellphone tonight and post it here... but I'm thinking it's just normal valve train sound. I put 1000 miles on the car since I bought it a month ago and I've done a lot of spirited fast driving in the mountains of Malibu and the car is running amazing.
I just ordered a heat exchanger from Euro charged so that should help keep temperatures down a little bit.. but they rarely ever go over 210 degrees Fahrenheit so I think everything is good

they all diesels
just we not aware
now seriously- most high performance german engines by bmw and mercedes are very vocal at idle. clicks, clacks are the norm. they are loose engines.
