Found a stock street car that pulls harder than a CL65

I'm in Italy on vacation and got to take an Avantador out on a paid 30 minute "test drive". Luck for me here it means hitting 245 kph (152MPH) on the back roads (if the weather was better I could have gone faster). The car is just incredible and I can say that it pulls harder than the CL65 off the line and from a roll. It was a bit cold out and on regular roads the car would start getting a bit loose but always pull itself back into shape (even with the 4 wheel drive). Putting it in Corsa mode the shifts were neck snapping. Once I get back I'll pull the video from inside the car. Driving that car and going to the Pagani factory on the 20th I was sure that the world would end yesterday and I'd never have a chance to do it again

The Lambo is almost as quick as the Bugatti Veyron. AWD really helps put the power to the ground. You really can't compare the CL65 to that.

I don't know if you know that the Pagoni V12 is the same motor as you have in your CL65. Its supplied to them by AMG. Its tweaked to put out a bit more power. The Lambo and Pagoni would be a better comparison.

So you compare a $400k car to a $35k car?

Just kidding.

The aventador is sick, but is not an every day car by a long shot. Nor it is practical. It is a whole different animal. Please post video when you have the chance

It depends on which Pagani. The Zonda uses a derivative of the older 7.3L V12. The new Huyara (which I saw in production as well when we did a tour of the Pagani factory) is a very close sibling to the M275 engine. Smaller turbos, different intake and intercoolers and who knows what else . I tried to see if I could get some samples but for some reason I got laughed at...

I agree, the CL with it's weight and assanine 1 wheel drive is no comparison off the line but from a 30 mph roll it is a beast. There are very few cars made that can match the mid range pull of the M275 engine. I really want to find some accurate 30-70 times for both cars to see if they are close at all.

Conversely, when you look at the run on youtube between the Veyron and the Aventador it is close off the line, then the extra 300hp of the Veyron take over....I have to say that VW corporation has built quite an impressive array with the acquisition of Lamborghini and Bugatti.

Alx $35k??? At the rate things are going that is over paying for a CL65.

Regarding driving the Aventador "around town" it was actually rather easy and comfortable in non sport mode cruising through the small towns. I was quite surprised by that. The annoyance came when trying to stomp on it, the transmission just didn't seam to know what to do. Putting it in Sport or Corsa really unleashed the beast.

That electric torque is mostly all there instantly, 275 ft lbs..
