ABC Failure Due To Bad Road Conditions
I have a 2003 CL55 with 78000 miles.
We drove through a really bad pothole that was unmarked and should have been covered about 7 to 10 days before the red ABC light came on four days ago.
We were getting ready to take it by the dealer to see what the repair was going to cost and had not driven it. Yesterday my wife made a 20 mile round trip, during which time she heard more and more pump noises.
After the car had been parked for a few hours, we noticed a large puddle of fluid under the drivers side of the car.
My question is - has anyone experienced this failure after driving on rough roads or harsh speed bumps or even driving over a curb?
Thanks

I have. After a rainy day with a lot of pot holes and bumpy roads..my hydraulic hose got a massive leak. To a point where car lost alot of ABC fluid. This caused the be careful red light for ABC come on.
Got it checked and abc hose by the oil pan was leaking. So they had to replace that line from getting one made from a hydraulic hose shop. Then the pump stopped pressure for some reason..so my Indy guy called Benz tech for help and he said to pressurize the pump manually..it came back and gave better pressure then factory range. Ran the rodeo test few times no issues. Left it overnight and it was good. Still been good 5 months later so far.
Total cost for labor n parts = 687$.
Make sure if u have a ABC light on. Do not drive it as it can damage your pump and that cost $2500~+
Tow it to the dealer or good Indy shop.
Good luck.

Red is bad. Usually indicates huge leak. Turning engine on means hydraulic system is on and leak is leaking that's why everyone says do not turn the car on. Driving the car with the abc light on means your loosing ABC fluid constantly and the more you drive the more fluid is being lost.. Which means the pump is running dry and very soon it will fail..then instead of paying ~600-700$ you will be paying 3000$+.
Tow your car to nearest shop.

Yes, it could be but from my experience you have a leak and continued driving with grenade your pump and introduce metal particles to your entire system. If you see the red light, stop immediately and do not drive. The odds are far greater that you have a blown hose or have run out of fluid from some other leak than a pressure sensor.

Yours wasn't due to road conditions. Your belt broke severing the ABC line.
Mine had nothing to do with the road conditions either. It came off the train in transport completely lowered and didn't want to raise up. I'm pretty sure the guys working on transporting cars had it strapped down still and started the car. The car wanted to level itself but couldn't. Needless to say the dealer that I bought the car from and the transport company both told me to pound sand. $2800 later it was fixed.
