Hey thanks for the kind words. I really love the way the car looks and drives now but it demands a bit more respect when driving it. You can punch it and it will jump...sometimes sideways so you better pay attention. I wouldn't want it any other way. Before it would mostly spin just one wheel and the other 3 would guide it straight. The only problem I see is wearing out bigger pricier tires now two at a time.

Looks great. A LSD is one of the first mods I intend to do to my CL65. Love the look of the wider tires/wheels too. I have been trying to figure out a way to run drag radials on the street but the only 19's I have found are 305/35's and are 28" tall. I don't suppose you want to part with that spare pair of rims you now have do you?

Sorry, but at this point no. I specifically bought an extra set so I would still have the originals wheels. Originally I thought the same as far as the drag radials, but I doubt they would last me 1,000 miles. Besides The PS2s just feel a lot safer, especially if you happen to get caught in the rain or visit higher triple digits. I'm not telling you its okay to do, but there are guys with CTS-Vs and Mustangs running the MT 305/35/19s on 19x9.5 wheels. Maybe do a little reading to see if its for you. I don't know if they will rub or if spacers would help since they are taller as well.

I understand about the wheels. I have 6 stockers for my Lightning, 4 with regular street tires & 2 with 325/40-18 M&H drag radials and would like to do the same type of setup on my CL. I am used to the Drag radial compromises. I love being able to go WOT in first gear though and on the street my Lightnings pump gas setup makes 618/662 RWHP/TQ. Higher tripple digit speeds are a bad idea here, anywhere you might try it there is a bit too much risk of running into a moose, literally.

Just did some searching and found out the Quaif is a helical gear limited slip. I have used every design limited slip made on one vehicle or another over the years and for a street vehicle that also sees strip or track duty the helical gear design like the Quaif uses is by far my favorite. Clutch type limited slip differentials are garbage, Lockers, spools ane selectable lockers are great for specific applications such as off road or track only use but I am excited to know we have a great option to upgrade to. Not sure what design the Kleeman is though.

I have a set of those Mickey Thompson ET radials that are 305/35/19. I have not mounted them yet because I am scared they will be too big looking at them compared to my stockers. I am just curious how your wheels fit. My car is lowered and the stock tires size rubs where the back bumper and body come together. I dont know how it is possible that your tires dont rub or is it just because your car is not lowered? Let me know what your think so I can decide if I should return these wheels or just mount them up.

Are you running stock wheels/offsets? I don't understand why you are rubbing with stock size tires. Either way I never tried the M/Ts but they are 35s and drag radials which tend to run a bit bigger/taller to begin. I have 305/30/19s which are slightly shorter than stock tires. I don't have rubbing issues, but we are not comparing apples to apples. My wheels are widened and I use spacers so my wheel placement is different to allow for the larger tire size. Also those DRs call for a 10" wide wheel where the stock rears are only 9.5". I hope that helps.

My car is lowered so I think thats why it rubs. Its not bad but only when it hits bumps. I do realize that DR will be wider then a similar sized tire. Well thanks for some help. Yes it is on stock wheels that I wanted to run them on.

For the street? It would be cool if you could squeeze them on the stock wheels and raise the suspension. Otherwise for the track you could enough traction and less weight with a 265/40/18. In the end if its for the street get an LSD and more mileage and traction from a high performance street tire.

Where did you order yours from? Did you order and have someone else install them?
Was it a mechanical only install and nothing needs to be done to electronically (ESP update via DAS)?
I want to order one and have someone like UNITRAX (a local drivetrain specialist) install it..

I ended up getting it from Quaife directly from England. Shortly after they teamed up with Kleeman to have them as a distributor here in America. I would guess anyone who sells them should have it made available to them, but be sure to have the right part number so its a direct replacement and not substituted with something close requiring grinding or modifications. As far as the install, I had it done at my local indie shop with no issues. Eurocharged recently installed one in a SL65 and the owner loves it and I think Speedriven is putting one in a S65 they are currently building, which may give you more feedback/opinions. As far as I know it is just a stock replacement, no computer issues or programing involved.
At the track the stock rear is so hit or miss trying to get both to hook up. I haven't been since, but on the streets the car is so much more predictable and fun to drive, but it will get side ways in a blink if you aren't careful.

I got mine from vivid racing, a sponsor here on MBWorld. A Quaife is probably a better first mod than a tune IMO. Night and day improvement on the street. Quaife and a tune will make a stock 65 seem boring.

I couldn't agree more. Day and night difference, it makes it more of a sports car that you can and have to control. Getting into the power at a lower speed and maintaining traction with less interference from the traction control. If you can get it locally or in the States it may be easier than buying from overseas and dealing with shipping. At the time it was the only option I was aware of and Birds was the only person who helped with the correct part number.
