Check Engine and Exhaust Sensors

After replacement of sparkplugs and service B on CL600 Carlsson (2003), I got a 'check engine' light, took it back to the dealer, they read the code and determined that the 'exhaust sensor' is throwing the code and they'd need more time to investigate.

Spark plugs were (carefully) installed at the dealer and coil packs are healthy.

Is the exhaust sensor the 'O2 sensor' or something else? Do they have to be replaced at regular intervals? No noticeable effect on driving - car is at it smoothest it has ever been.

I did not have the time to leave the car again for diagnostics but I will do that later in the week. Technician just said that it was the 'exhaust sensor throwing the code' but he could not see what was wrong with it. Cleared the code. I drove the car for several days and then 'check engine' came back.

Compared to my other cars, this one needs most 'babysitting' )))

Thank you

S.

Yes, it is the O2 sensor. They have a limited lifespan so eventually are a replacement item just like your spark plugs.

Purge valve

thank you. I called again today and they said it was the "purge valve" which may be "sticky." It should be one of those low-cost repairs for the CL
