2005 CL65 Average Front Brake Wear Question

I picked up my CL65 from a single owner who took really good care of the car and kept good records as well. His 10,000 mile service arrived after three years with 7400 miles on the clock... haha...

One-owner from new, older guy and always adult driven.

The reason for the preface was to establish that the man took care of the car and barely drove it from late 2004 to late 2013 where I got it at 34k miles.

That being said, when I brought it in for inspection, it was said that there was about 15% life left on the pads all around and the front rotors were not in the greatest shape.

Now, I know the car is a fatty, but it might as well be a truck at that weight and brakes last far longer than 35k miles. They're not carbon ceramic, but the question is... Did the old man ride the brakes or what is the typical lifespan of the CL65's gold-digging brakes? HAHA.

He drove the car like any old man. The gas pedal was an on/off switch and destroyed the brakes. Its only a $3000 repair....

When I bought my 2005 CL65 with 42,000 on the clock it had brand new front & rear brake pads & rotors. Seems like 40,000 miles is about all you can expect from a 65 under normal use.

For what its worth, my CL55 goes through front brake pads approx ever 45,000 miles, rear break pads approx every 100,000 miles. All my rotors were replaced at 100,000 miles as well. I also replaced the front wheel bearings at that time.

Haha... That's what I was thinking too... Considering they said there was 15% left on the brakes, it sounds like he was heavy on them, but otherwise pretty normal...

I actually expected the rotors to cost more considering what they are, but I was just curious how much life I could expect. Chances are I'd either sell it or trade it before needing them again unless I choose to keep it after the warranty is over in three years.
