passenger air bag question

hi, i have a 2004 cl600 and the light on the center console that says passenger airbag off never lights up whether, or not anyone is sitting in the passenger seat. i read something about a mercedes child seat triggering the off button. is this the only time the light goes on in a 2004? recently got a mercedes loaner and the passenger airbag off light was on whenever the passenger seat was empty. it seems odd that the light never goes on in my car.

Mine never comes on either. Not something I'd worry about until you get a fault code.

That light only will come on with a Mercedes specific product (such as the child seat) that toggles the status of the airbag to off. It will however illumiate shortly upon turning your ignition on for a self test.

See page 71 of your manual ( http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...00_cl55amg.pdf )
