Saw your car at the Supercar Saturdays event yesterday. I had followed this thread and recognized it right away. never got a chance to meet though. We had a nice group of six of us get together and park....would've been better if the M car hadn't parked right in the middle of us.

We gave him some friendly razzing...hope to see some other time.

Oh, is there some kind of AMG club in the Chicagoland area I'm totally missing?

Either way, I got to park next to a Testarossa, 918 and Ford GT, so I can't complain. But I'll be in and out of events for the rest of summer. Been talking to SpeeDriven about some billet turbo wheels, I'll probably send over when winter hits. Not much updates otherwise, busy with work, internships and school, so mods are on hold for a while.

Also random question - my passenger headlight seems unaligned with the bodywork. Any ideas on what caused it and how to fix it?

No AMG club per se. A few of us met up and coordinated through the AMG PL. I'll let you know next time there is a gathering.

As far as your headlight is concerned, I can't help you there, and judging from your engine bay, there sure isn't a lot of room to maneuver. Maybe a photo post could help those better equipped to give you tech advice than me.

Happy Motoring

Hey guys. Long time no update!
Bosch 440cc 65 AMG injectors and Speedriven turbine wheels have been installed.
Here's a brand new dyno sheet for you all to judge.
The Fastest Benz in Minnesota-1xcnnuf.jpg
This is as tuned on Speedriven's new dynojet that's supposedly reading 30hp/tq down from comparable units. I'll confirm this with a nonpartisan hub dyno session and a trip to the strip in the coming months.
The Fastest Benz in Minnesota-s4xsxjt.jpg

On that note - TX2K17! I'll be driving down Houston for the third weekend in March to participate in all the TX2K madness. I've also been talking with Dave (Forum user DCGA) on having a little Benz meetup. I've heard rumors of a fair few of you M275 guys showing up, and a little get-together would be very nice.

For TX2K then, I'm hoping to pick up some proper 16" beadlocks and slicks in the next couple of weeks, more than likely from a tire shop in TX while I'm there for the weekend. Anyone know the perfect dimensions to squeeze as much tire under those stock fenders? Let me know!

Besides that - just got a few cosmetic issues to patch up and my car is running stronger than ever. Just in time for spring!

Looks like it could benefit from better tuning.

The dyno itself read 611hp, however Thomas@Speedriven is confident that the real world whp is closer to 650. I can only confirm this with another dyno test, or by taking it to the dragstrip. Both will probably happen at TX2K and I'll keep you guys updated.

Regarding tuning, what I've been told is that the new injectors appear to be flowing more heavily than other 65 AMG injectors, and ran very rich during most of the long tuning process. Even now it has that smell of running a bit rich. However I'm sure the AFR will balance out a bit more once the injectors get broken in, the trunk tank is drained of coolant and packed with ice, along with some fresh filters on the intakes. However, Jerry@Eurocharged will be up in MN in April for a tuning day with the Minnesota Mercedes-Benz Club, and I'm sure his expertise will be a great second opinion.

Your injectors aren't going to be broken in and then start flowing less. The reality is Speedriven has not one car ever built on this planet that's performed like it should. They should have been able to tune for the injectors easily. And the dyno I'm sure doesn't read low let alone compared to a mustang dyno. And not to be rude, honestly, but your Torque is pitiful, tune only 600s do that number. And with all the hardware you have it's nothing to be impressed by.

This is a fair criticism and I'll take it into account. Prior to this setup, with stock tubos and injectors, this car was making 756lb/ft at the tires on a mustang dyno, which is why I'm willing to hang on to the belief that this current dyno sheet is short selling me. What's nice is that I have all the necessary hardware in place, where updating a tune is just software adjustment. I'll have a few weeks to play with my current setup a bit more but a revisit to the tune is definitely on my agenda.

I do apologize if I came across harsh, as it's not a shot at you, that I can promise. Hell I've got over 20k in hardware on my 65 and it doesn't put much more power down then your car, so I myself consider my w216 pitiful to be fair!

But your w215 is far more easily tuned out, I still have a w215 65 and W220 600. My W220 600 with down pipes, TCU & ecu tune puts down more torque then your car was all I'm getting at. You have lots left on the table and a proper tune from someone who knows what there doing will really wake it up.

Just throwing it out there. But have you taken into consideration that perhaps torque might have been taken out to make the car more drive able or perhaps to keep things alive longer? More isn't always better. I am pretty new to the MB performance world but been around the block with a few other car lines in my past and both cases were not that uncommon. Some controlled how the power came on so that the tires wouldn't go up in a blaze. With other cars it was done to keep the clutch together or to keep the rods inside. Huge torque at low RPM is not optimal for a rotating assembly and I'm sure it has enough power to make traction an issue down low.

And while peak torque is lower than some other cars. Where is the torque at compared to other cars where it really matters? Cause once you are out of 1st gear, you never really get much benefit for a torque spike down low where the engine doesn't spend any time once it revs past that point in 1st gear.

Don't take it the wrong way, but with as many of these cars as you have and from your posts you feel that you know more than tuners. Why not buy the software and show what can be done?

Continuing with debugging! Doing my best to get all the kinks worked out before TX2K. My car took a stop at Dean's Performance in St. Charles, to get a second opinion from their tried and true dynojet. Bad news is that I was limping along at 9lbs of boost. This left my AFR dipping as low as 11.8 at around 4700rpm, which explains the 2 stroke pitbike smell. Hopefully a new MAP sensor and dialing out some fuel at low RPM's will make a difference. Here's a 4th gear pull with some smokey exhaust fumes for your viewing pleasure.

You need a custom tune from a good tuner.

I reached out to Jerry from Eurocharged, but I'm afraid there's just no time in my schedule for him to hit me with a new tune, however they seem very receptive to the idea and it may happen in the future. SpeeDriven will be giving it another revisit on the dyno before TX2K, and then I'll see if it can survive a 2000 mile roundtrip.

In other news, the taiwanese E-Bay badgeless grille survived just 9 months before the plastic broke off in the exact same spot as the last one. I'll be making the trip to Houston in a grille-less car

Yeah Eurocharged has mine right now getting it ready for next week. I think Jerry and the team have worked out my issue and are working to get it resolved in time. At apx 11psi it was doing 622/709 but the optical sensor fell over at 4k RPM so never got an accurate TQ number at my local dyno. I feel confident Eurocharged will have it running at proper boost levels. Its already done 900+ rwtq on their dyno. It seems my turbos are overly efficient. Go figure. lol
Hope to see you there at TX2K17. Me and my crew are staying at the Marriot on the West side.
I should also have my drag radials in by then but will still be on 20's.

that smoke looks awfully blue. And, it sounds like it started on decel.

How much oil is it consuming?

Mine does that as well. Most CL65s I have seen on the dyno seem to do it.

Burning a bit of oil off WOT has always been normal, even prior to the turbo and injector upgrades. In fact, I'm almost certain Mercedes designed this engine to burn a quart every 3000 miles LOL. If only Mercedes let us have a real dipstick...

Oil is changed on the dot every 3000 miles anyway and the digital monitor has always reported healthy levels, so I've never been hugely concerned.
