W216 CL63 AMG - Driving ultra shot distances
Hi guys,
does it hurt to drive the car (W216 CL63 6.2N/A) for ultra short distances? The thing is, my office is only around 2.5 miles away from my home. Some people say, that it damages the car to drive for such short distances.
Let's say if I drive it daily only for 2.5 miles in the morning, and for 2.5 miles in the evening, does it do any harm to the car (engine, transmission)? If I take it on the long drives during the weekends (70+ miles), do I still need to better take different car for my daily commutes to work?

You can't always believe everything you read, but in this case its definitely true. Notwithstanding the possibility of a discharged battery, you really need everything to warm-up properly, and that journey is barely long enough. You might not notice in the short term, but in the long term everything will wear out in a relatively short mileage. Mobil proved that modern cars can run for a million miles if they don't do cold starts, so the life of a modern car is typically constrained more by the total number of cold starts, than the number of miles or number of years.
