Do you need to disconnect the battery when removing the transmission control module?
Faulty connector pin caused transmission oil go into my TCM. I know they can be opened and cleaned with Electrical cleaner. The ATF doesn't damage the $1000 TCM from my research. I just have a few questions before I remove it.
Do I need to disconnect the battery before removing it?
How do I get it out? I know it's in the engine bay by the left fuse box.
How do I go about opening the TCM exposing the electrical parts?
Thanks in advance.

There's always a risk that re-connecting the battery will cause a spike that causes damage, so it's not a black and white decision, but on balance of probabilities, I would say disconnect first.
