Attended the WannaGoFast 1/2 mile event in Clayton, GA this past weekend. My second time to try this debacle....I thought I would give it another chance. I cannot express what a clusterF this whole event was. They made a huge deal of tech inspection (had to be signed off by a mechanic/shop) and using the proper Snell SA2010+ auto certified helmet...(no motorcycle helmets allowed! what BS), then didn't even inspect my vehicle OR even look at my helmet upon tech check in. The waiting line to get to the staging area to run was ridiculous...a long single lane, people not in their vehicles (so the line bottlenecks and doesn't move), just a real clusterF. After waiting FOREVER to run each time, I managed to get in a total of 4 runs from 10am to 6PM....all for the princely sum of $275.00. The organizational skills of the WannaGoFast company are a total joke.
Sorry to hear about the experience, but what did you run? You left out the most important part of the story that everyone would like to know. Also, what mods and techniques helped or hurt you? I'm sure it sucks staging so long trying not to heat soak. Sounds like there may not be a "next time" for you, better luck else where.

He ran mid 140's, which is very respectable, but he has posted this same rant (verbatim) on at least three forums. Seems there's an axe to grind?
No axe to grind...just want potential WannaGoFast customers to know what they are in for if they choose to attend the Clayton, GA event. The concept is great and obviously very popular with quick sellouts, but after running in two events at this location the logistics need a LOT of work to make it function better for the customer. Maybe in another location my experience would be better....but I'll not waste my time going back to the Clayton, GA event (even though it's very scenic).

I think it's a fair statement to say that it wasn't what you expected... the first time I went, I had no clue what to expect and half-mile events were a fairly new concept. Could the process be sped up, to allow you to get a 6th, 7th run? Sure. It basically comes down to the limitations of the layout of that facility. They host WGF events at other airstrips, and the bottleneck is not nearly as much of an issue because you have the whole tarmac at your disposal.
Clayton might have slower turnover, but the scenery and vantage points are the best of all venues. Most other airfields are flat, so it's much more difficult to watch the races.
Clayton is also one of the most humbling places to run at, because the DA is super high there (normally ~3,000 feet). If you're running a naturally-aspirated car, you're gonna have a bad time haha.
