I will probably get flamed for saying this, but there just does not seem to be much of anything going on here other than the constant posting for new wheels....which seem like they should be in a different forum.
I've only been here 4 or 5 months and what I've seen is a handful of members who are the only ones who actually answer any questions. If they are not online, nothing happens. I guess I might be expecting too much since I'm also on diesel forums, Mustang forums etc and those forums are always busy.
Anyways, I have greatly appreciated the advice I have gotten and just hope the activity here picks up.

Then why not tell me what forums are for if not to discuss cars, issues, repairs etc? Or do you think they are just to look at fancy wheel postings?
And, in case you are not aware, the 215 version of these cars are not generally owned by the super rich anymore. They are owned by the average guy who has always wanted one and is not stupid enough to pay a mechanic at the dealership to fix the car. They use their front yard or curb.....or in my case a fancy garage with a lift to fix their cars.
Also, just to educate you since you seem to need it, some people actually enjoy working on their own cars. I could afford to drop my car off and have everything fixed, but I've always enjoyed doing the work my self. It's a sense of pride and helps me understand everything better.
But I'm probably boring you....I'll let you get back to viewing the postings for new wheels...
Play nice boys, lol. I think the main thing is production numbers. Other platforms simply have a huge variety of aftermarket parts available and draw a larger audience. As a result, there are more one off setups done here. As time goes on, these cars are run into the ground, leaving less and less. Becoming affordable to buy is good but it is still the same cost to maintain. It gets old when new comers complain about the cost of parts and the complexity. There are only a handful of us who care to take the time and keep the cars going properly, many do just enough to get by. Sadly, those who are most qualified end up staying away. It's an in between generation now, not quite classic. People don't love them enough yet to put more into them then they are worth.
It’s true that this forum isn’t as active as others. We can change that. Post what you’ve done to your car, share things you’ve figured out or share when you’ve found a part, car or something the group can relate to and learn from.
For me, I just bought my first AMG, a 2003 CL55 with 59k miles and really like it. It’s a nice compliment to my 94 BMW 840. It does need a few things;
-I’ll be replacing all four air chambers as it washboards a little not terrible but not as it should be, the brake rotors are “ok” with a slight vibration so out they go and the delivery truck broke my front bumper so off to the body shop for repairs.
-Completed this far is a new radio amp which solved the no sound problem, a pound of Freon to top up the system, new correctly installed low beam headlights blubs which fixed the poor lighting and brand new all season Continental tires in staggered size because i like to have tires I can trust.
- Once the require is completed, I’ll do a service including trans fluid, diff, brake fluid, filters and plugs. Anything else which I’m in there?
@WikedV12 -- This forum is not dead, just slow. Welcome to the tiny club of CL65 owners. There are only a few hundred people in the world that own a W215 CL65. With only 777 worldwide production, and less than 200 imported to the US, how many of those do you think are on this forum? Or on any other similar forum for this car for that matter. I'll wager you will find the same situation for any exotic, high priced, limited production car...
I maintain my own cars, but they are in top shape. Nothing to complain about, report, ask for help, etc at the moment.
Maybe I misspoke and slow is a better description. I agree, the CL65 population is limited but this forum also includes CL55s and CL63s. I would think those groups would have a lot more owners interested in issues related to their cars. I do understand that a lot of people just take their cars into the shops, but lots of people also like to work on their cars.
In regards to my own car, I have been posting questions. I don't usually get much of a response which is why I posted this topic. I also agree that I hope the forum picks up as I think this site has a wealth of knowledge that we all benefit from.

I owned a CL 55 for 10 years and loved it. Greatest car I ever owned. I also enjoyed being on this forum and participating in discussions. However I had my CL55 maintained by a great mechanic and so I had very few views with respect to the technical aspects. I believe there are many like me since it is an incredibly complicated car. However I was very grateful that readers like Geraldius would provide their insights and enjoyed reading their pieces.
The point is, lack of robustness does not connote “dead”. The fact that I am still viewing the site and participating after I lost my CL55 earlier this year is evidence of that.
The CL55 and CL65 was not made in mass production like a C240 or C300. There are only so many out there and only so many who can afford to buy. I have a 2006 CL600 and have only seen a couple other people with them on the forum.
Good day today, fixed a peasky vibration and the front shock mounts using 2 flat metal washers and two rubber washers on each side. Vibration turned out to be a loose drivers side wheel bearing. A turn of the set screw and now it’s gone. Total cost, 6 bucks for hardware at Home Depot.
I took delivery of a 2008 CL63 in May 2007 when the "63" first appeared from Mercedes, and this forum was only slightly more active than it is now. I never quite got that car out of my system, so I bought another 2008 CL63 several months ago, to satisfy my craving. The forum is still quiet but my CL63 isn't. The Benz forums are slow not dead, there not littered with pimple faced knuckleheads and that could explain things.
Exactly. You get knowledge on forums. Just gotta be patient for a good response sometimes. Of you want high traffic, Instagram or Facebook is active. However the knowledge is almost non existent there.
