03 CL55 AMG trunk struts

Couple of questions; my trunk opens a little ****-eyed and only opens about half way. I'm presuming the struts probably need replacing (any advice on oem vs others appreciated). It seems like on the carfax report the car has been in twice for the non symmetrical opening. Is that an easy fix?

Cheers

Do you have the electric / pneumatic opening option?

Here is a thread on dirt cheap replacement struts. That is if your trunk lid wont stay open.
Trunk Struts for CL55, CL500, CL63 W215 for $10.00 USD
The cockeyed and half opening part part is that your hydraulic opener is out of fluid, this is a common problem. There are Youtube videos on how to refill them but the fluid will end up leaking out again.

The problem is with the hydraulic pump if opening is noisy, slow or unequal. As noted above the fluid leaks out as the O-Rings start to wear dry out. The pump sits under the battery in a compartment. It can easily be refilled with hydraulic fluid. Search or you-tube for videos showing how. I have to top mine off every 12-18 months.

Check the part number I posted. It does say it will not fit the CL but they do. I had to try them at such a cheap price and they worked. see posted pics.
