Satisfied with CL55 AMG

Hey Guys,

A friend of mine wants to buy a CL55 AMG (2004) and wants to know
if it runs great.. not too many problems with the car and how would you rate it verse the S55 AMG? He's debating whether he wants a cl55 or s55?

Thanks for your opinions!

2003 CL55 AMG
I love my 2003. It had a few small issues that were dealt with by my dealer (ie: leaking ABC hose, faulty weather striping).

The car runs great and is solid though. A lot of fun and great for highway blasting.

The main difference in the S55 is the addition of 2 doors. Size wise they are close. If your friend needs to carry 3 passengers with ultimate comfort, the S55 may be a better choice.

2003 CL55
My 2003 CL55 has been free of any problems, except if one is bothered by the slight chirp on supercharger engagement (see other posts on that topic), which does not bother me. I have almost 13000 miles on the car and the only minor fault is that the driver's seatback may not stay forward when accessing the back seat. It is very fast, handles extremely well for a 4300 lb car, is solid, safe and elegant. The car has intriguing and quite uncommon external design features that make it look smaller than it is. Obviously, if one needs regularly to have more than one passenger, the S55 is the way to go.

same here

same here, 2003 model, almost 13000 miles on the odo. the only problem i had is the chirping noise on the supercharger when engaged, it only happens when accelerate from stop. it is not that big issue, i still drive it as usual, sometimes hard, sometimes smooth. no other problems so far... it is a fast and powerful car I've ever drive. S55 would be a good choice too, carry one more extra passenger. but, the coupe probably is more noticable as a sport car.
