Sometimes I do not drive my car for a month or so. Car has two large batteries, a starter battery under the hood and a large accessories battery in the truck. My car will always start but I will have a lot of error messages for low voltage issues when I first start the car, ABC, SRS etc. Drive it for 15 minutes and everything is good. If I were to put it on a trickle charger do I do that with the starter battery or the accessories battery or do I have to do them both? Not sure if I charge one both will charge etc? Any advice would be appreciated.
I use a CTEK charger on a weekly basis to keep the main battery charged. I really do not know if it charges the aux. battery as well. I know it seems to keep everything healthy. I keep the CTEK busy with three cars, a lawn tractor and some standby batteries. Hope it helps.
Yes, starter battery. I have a CL and the starter battery is under the hood and the auxiliary is a small 12v in a space between the rear seat back and the trunk. I have opened that space and charged the auxiliary battery before but it is too much of a hassle to do too often.
Here are the connection points under the hood to charge the rear battery. I use a ctek charger on mine. Keeps the accessory battery charged and I don't get any errors even after the car sits for 2 weeks or more.
