2003 cl 55 amg
I am scheduled to receive a 2003 cl 55 amg in Dec 02. I am the first on line for the new cl 55 in nj. Does anyone know what type of engine will be in this car. Is it going to be the same 370hp or are they going to follow suit with the sl 55 amg . Anyone Please?

What am I doing wrong??? Ordered a 2002 Cl55 and my dealer has no idea when I'll get delivery. Call the customer support line and they also had no idea when I'd get my car. I guess I'm going to get a 2003 which are being builkt in the 4th quater '02. Other than requesting delivery in Germany how does one find out the delivery??

Smurph, the only wait to be exact on your CL order is to have a PO Number this number can tell you exacty in detail what stage your CL is in. You should have been given a PO Number by your sales rep if you do not have a PO Number then your oder is not yet in production. The number is 10 numeric numbers....

What about mating Trans
Anyone have an idea on the mating trans. to these engines. One could guess the S55k & CL55k will be the same as the SL55k. But what about the S600tt, will it be a 6 speed? Anyone with info.

Nope. NO manual transmission is in the works at this time.

Since the SL55 has a 6-speed auto, I assume we will see the upcomming models witching to a 6 speed automatic as well soon.

unlike the 6-speed auto gear box used by BMW, Jaguar, VW and Audi which is developed by ZF with pretty much the same archetecture but different gear ratio, the auto gear box used on Mercedes-Benz cars are by Mercedes-Benz themselves, and from what i've heard the MB 6-speed auto is still in development and it's schedule to be introduce at around mid 2004. which explains why McLaren is using a 5-speed instead of a 6-speed auto on Vision SLR, as well as the gear box used on the Maybach. so i don't really think Mercedes-Benz is going to put the 6-speed auto on any of it's lineup anytime soon. disappointing!
