W216 facelift steering wheel upgrade to Two spoke W222

Hi all

I'll get straight to it, I have got my hands on a lovely matching W222 facelift steering wheel (the two spoke one) and I've been searching the internet to try and see if anyone has fitted this to the CL63 facelift W216 (mine is 2011)

Since the button plug is identical to that currently on my CL wheel module I would think this is definitely possible. I have tried plugging in just the buttons to the current steering wheel module (just took the airbag out and swapped the plugs). Not much works but I can get it to got left and activate voice command. Making me further believe this is possible. I can see online I can do this upgrade for even newer steering wheels to work with my car like with the w223 steering wheel for example with uses a kind of middle man interpreter module for the buttons but can't see anyone doing this swap/something to purchase for the swap with my case (I have always loved this version of the W222 wheel btw soo don't want the newer ones)

Anyway any help would be appreciated 👍

Below is the new steering wheel

And this is my current wheel:

Below is the new buttons plug type (same as in the CL):

Thank you very much. From this I can see that it is possible and I just need the correct buttons 👍👍

Little update I got the set of buttons and plugged them in the same way I described previously in my post and THEY WORK! 😄🙏 Soo now just waiting on having the time to do the module modifications, I assume this won't be easy as looking at the w216 black box it is a VERY wide electric board inside compared to the newer board but I will get there. I'm also going to modify the buttons a little to retro fit the working button module onto the newer silver buttons as they are slightly different in size and would leave a gap around buttons on newer steering wheel. Thanks again to the person who linked me the method
