you guys obviously know nothing about cars and are just blowing smoke out your *** about which car is fastest. That particular cobra with no other mods, given a good driver (like the one in it) will run anywhere between a 10.9-11.3 and 124-128mph at the 1/4 mile track. You have to remember the cobra has around 500rwhp and weighs in around 3600lbs. The cl65 has about 525rwhp and weighs in around 4600lbs. +25rwhp and 1000lbs will equal a loss in an all out drag race.

And for the excuses of "the driver of the cl obviously sucked". Well thats complete horse****. All you have to do in that car is step on the gas, there is no shifting or any other excuse for driver error, outside of not pressing fully on the gas pedal, which we know he was doing.

You should be commending the Cobra on a win and thats all. If you don't think a Cobra can beat a CL, I will challange all CL's in LA to a race against my cobra on video so we can see who has the fastest car.

I am not a complete idiot , I know the difference between a CL65 and a 01 CL55 that would not come close to these numbers.

I got my information from the most respected Magasine in Europe.

BTW to say the CL65 is equally fast as the McLaren SLR is not true.

The CL65 seems pretty slow from all this hype thats been around M5 handed its *** to it, a 25k Cobra.

As for driver error there is room for it in the cobra video, guy could have been trying to use speed shift or have a horrible response in which he did. I dont remember hearing them honk on the roll. From a start aswell he jumped the gun on the stang.

the cobra hit it... then let off, then the 65 hit it and then the cobra hit it again. He was waiting for the 65 to downshift or whatever so it was fair. Guys, the car went 11.30's, a stock 65 is not that fast How is this so unbelievable. I just posted the vid because how many vids do you get to see of AMG cars actually racing???? I didnt mean for it to be a cobra vs CL65 or $25k vs $100+k war...

nice vid. i wouldnt call it a "sh*t on", though, as they went faster, the distance stayed the same. nice stang, definately bad ***-- that'll smoke most ferraris, too, but it doesn't necessarily makee it a better car. i don't think it was meant to start a "speed king dolla for dolla" war though, 'cause let's face it, mb ///amg will never win that one. however, i'd still rather have a cl 500 than any stang, no matter how fast it is, but i'm a luxury freak. again- nice vid-- post more if ya can.

Most Ferraris in a straight line.... Ferraris arnt for drag racing although some have very respectible straight line stats like the new 430.

Whats this i hear about a SL55 loosing to a Z06? Stock vs Stock with a good driver Z06s have run 11.99 in the Quarter Mile, and have ran 7.56 around the Nurburgring, one of the few cars to break the 8 minute mark stock. About the cobra, they are beast, and run 12.5 stock with goood driver, maybe even 12.3. Im not ****ting on AMG cars, i want a E55, and i have seen both the CL65, and SL65, at the Keyes dealer here. Very Nice cars, im just stating facts. With the mods the cobra had its easy to see how it beat a CL65.

You wanna know something very scary. Thats not even with a Kenne Belle Supercharger With a Kenne Belle it would of been even worse, those 2.4 Blowzillas on Cobras are extremely powerful.

There was a video in this forums were killabyte's 2003 moded Cobra with 452rwhp looses twice in the row badly to stock E55 which is "only" $80K and not $185k like CL65.
If you have email I would send it to you as I downloaded it. Would like y our opinion on htat race and hte outcome.

have seen both the videos of the E55 vs Cobra races. It seems to me that all the races was won in the start. The E55 launch perfect every time and the Cobra spins to much. After that it seem like the cars are more or less equal.

In the video in this post is looks like the Cobra get a few meters in the start and after that the distance is constant thrue the race.
That should indicate that they are very close in performance. Off l
the line the CL65 wins due to better traction, and an easier launch.

OK, I just did not get what you meant by the M5 remark.

BTW: Since the SL65 did a 0-125 mph in 12.6 it does not look that strange that the CL65 used 1 sec longer, both tests is done by same mag.
They also got a 11,9 1/4 mile time on the SL65, and that is not that much of the time that Treynor got on his first attempt I belive.

I would definitely agree with you on that one!
Near the end of the video, when they go from a roll-on, the distance between the two cars stayed the same. The cobra was not putting any ground on the 65. I think if the race gets into the 150++ mph territory, if it ever does , I think, in my opinion, that the 65 should be able to edge the cobra!
Props to that cobra for being one fast ****!!!
On a side note:
Treynor's 65 did the 1/4 in 11.7 @ 126! I believe... so thats 0-200 km/h in 11.7. Lets say that the CL 65 does it in 12.5, due to bad launch, etc etc.
There is not a chance in hell an M5 would ever be able to keep up with CL 65 or any 65 AMG for that matter!
M5 does 0-200 km/h in around 14-15 seconds!!
Thats about a second to two seconds off the 65's performace!

I made the side note on my comment cuz someone mentioned that the CL 65 got its *** handed to it by the M5 earlier!!!
I dont even get why someone would make such a comparison!
anywho, the only way to make a fair comparison is if the two cars run each other at the same. Just like the CLS 55 and M5! Now that was a good comparison.
Anyways, this race was good and exciting
I hope to see more videos like that in the near future!
Maybe a Kleemann 65 vs some other fast car... hint hint Treynor! :p
