Hi all, just joined and I am really sorry, but I do not own a Merc, let alone an AMG.

I first became aware of these seriously when Motor magazine tested the SL55 and E55 in PCOTY in April 2003.

These were fast, the E55 with 0-100 in 4.81s, 0-400m in 12.94@180.1 kmh, 0-1000m 23.26@232.8 kmh.

The SL55 0-100 in 4.90s, 0-400m in 12.90@179.7 kmh and 0-1000m in 23.32s@229.0 kmh.

Track suraface (a runway) and weather hampered uptimate times.

Then this year, Motor tested the CL65. The temperature was 34C and 19% humidity, not the best for turbo cars.

The results were pretty good: 0-100 in 4.64s, 0-400m 12.59@190.00 kmh, 0-1000m in 22.35@248.1 kmh. That last figure is thefastest 0-1000m time ever recorded for that magazine, quicker than the Dodge Viper (246.6 kmh) and Porche 911 GT2 (244 kmh).

Traction was the biggest issue with many attempts to get off the line without too much wheel spin. In ideal conditions this beastie would to a 21s@250+ surley.

Has anyone else got some performance firgures for this magnificant car??

Thanks,

Mike

**Sorry, typo earlier, not SL65**
