Thumbs up Custom made 3" aluminum intake snorkels today

I was going to buy the kit here:

But like to make stuff, and it was raining outside so...

Started mocking up like this:

Then cut the tubing..

And now fitting everything perfectly...

Now All I need is to tighten down the/ add the remaining hose clamps..

Verdict: Nice difference in sound, so that's awesome. You can hear a whoosshh noise thats louder then stock. Debating adding header heat wrap.. or just leaving exposed metal. I'll order up some sticky backed insulation to deflect the underhood heat some, and at the same time possibly add the wrap.

Fun rainy day project.

This is what I ordered, should insulate/deflect heat rather well..

And to wrap everything I ordered a couple rolls of this special tape

I had to go duel 3.5" all the way, as stock air filters would not flow enough air for my ported heads with larger valves.

Here is what the 3.5" sounds like on the dyno.

Looks clean and very well done. Sort of off topic but is the "official build" complete and just a matter of fine tuning, (no pun intended)? It looked like it was ready to rip off the dyno, lurching forward...I can't wait to see what type of power you will put down.

Finished up by painting the engine cover black, and wrapping the tubes with "lava wrap" for headers.

And lastly, I trimmed the scoops and added rubber foam to seal the gaps.

You can see with the hood closed, it's a direct shot into the intake tubes now.

Great work man! I'm feeling inspired, where did you source the tubing?

I always like the idea of having a blacked out supercharger with contrasting gunmetal cover and chrome intakes, i did a 'photochop' (which i must now be imfamous for) based on the intakes in that eBay listing of what i think would be a cool setup i might do when i get some time
