Intercooler questions

Sounds like the factory could have improved on that. At least they gave us a water neck with an outlet. That makes adding a can easy.
Thanks for the response, looks like I need a new cap.

I had a bad cap that was allowing all the fluid to blow out the over flow nipple. There was a thread where a hose and a small overflow reserve could be added. In my case I noticed a small leak then a 6 gallon trunk tank with less than a gallon remaining. Adding the overflow is a must, if you dont plan on going the trunk tank route.

I just got the car a couple weeks ago and am sorting through several issues. First off, the shop that previously worked on it was very incompetent. I would not trust them to air up the tires in my lawn mower.
That said, I checked the pressure on the intercooler cap and it will not hold any pressure. I have already replaced it. The boot at the throttle body was left loose- like not even snug. The boost sensor that checks pressure in the passenger ic had the nipple broke off with the hose dangling.
They changed the coils. When I find some spare time, I'm pulling everything off the top of the engine so I can double check every last thing they touched.

That nipple on the MAP sensor can easily be broken during ignition coil replacement...usually happens when the intercooler is moved. Just be sure to replace it with the correct part number or you won't build any boost.

Thanks. I have one on the way. I fixed the one on the car, but the storms rolled in before I could go test it. I can see it would be ready to break, but the shop should have fixed it. Stuff like that is what separates a good mechanic from an hourly paid flunky.
The car is definitely low on power. But I knew that before I bought it.
