Exclamation VW Golf R 400 Edition w/395 HP Turbo Four & DSG trans & AWD Confirmed for Production,

So a new faster version of the Golf R, to be called the Golf R 400, it supposed to have 395 HP and 332 lb/ft of torque with a Dual Clutch transmission (Manual offered also) and all wheel drive, obviously some comparison test reviews will eventually be done against this with the CLA 45 and the BMW M235i....with a turbo four it should be just as tuneable as the CLA's engine, any thoughts? Looks like it will be a far higher performer than the Audi S3.....also, even though it doesn't have the same brand cache as a Mercedes, what about reliability and running costs? The same probably? Less?

I don't think they will ever make this car for the streets as a customer's car", they will have a very limited number. I really don't see much market on this car. VW lost the battle a two an a half decades ago against Mitsubishi Eclipse turbos, lancia coupe turbos, ford Sierra cosworths, Renaults 21 turbos and just about any other Japanese or European turbo from late 80's or 90s. VW have had a very late race start, still offering a 200 hp GTIS when you have Cobalts with Ecoboost making 280hp or Evos making 300hp 10 years ago.

Bottom line, I believe it when I see it. What happened to that W12(V12 Biturbo Golf) car that Volkswagen had? how come they never brought it to the market?. Too late and too old news.

As a former GTI owner, this car I bet would be a BLAST to drive - lightweight, 400 bhp and with AWD, wow! I am loving these 4 cylinder horsepower wars coming out of Germany right now, incredible horsepower out of the small displacement. Hard to imagine in the 1960s muscle cars struggled to get this HP out of a V8! Love technology!

I would agree with C63newdude, I am curious to see if this will actually come to fruition. More importantly, what will be the cost? If this is a $60,000 CDN car, might be a tough sell. Granted there will always be die hard 'dubbers' that would buy it, chances are it will be a very limited production model.

Still, very impressive! I like!
