Power vs reliability

Ok, so this engine set up has been out for a while now and the aftermarket tuners have has there hands on it for some time. What do you think these motors and tubos can handle power wise before you CONSIDERABLY lose reliability? Say bhp numbers. 450-500? I dont see many hitting 500, although eurocharged did a car with upgraded turbo that was 430 WHP. Thoughts?

This is based on no factual data by any means, only gut feeling, and a very primitive understanding of marketing and business, and what has happened between the competition between Mercedes/Audi.
Considering Model year 2016 bumped up the horsepower by minor tweaks to the engine(I think camshaft, and a BOV of some kind)
I would say Sub 430 HP would be safe????????? I think people pushing more would be best to own there cars for the short term only.
Thats just my opinion

Makes sense. U just hear of these subarus and evos making crazy power on stock motors with tonnes of boost so you would figure the benz with forged internals would be stronger? I don't know anything about subaru or evos but i assume they are not forged. Im planing on a DP, intake and tune so around 450-470 and from what i hear its fairly reasonable and seems to be a common build for these cars. Just wondering if people think its capable of handling more

Mine is around 400whp currently. Drives smoothly and havnt had a single issue. On my way to hitting 10k miles on this setup. My guess is the engine can hold 500whp. transmission maybe around the same.

Subaru engines are horrible. they dont make good power with stock internals. Major ringland problems. Evos make decent power on stock block. 450whp stock blocks. They are forged but not as strong as AMG forged internals, i assure you.

So when are you adding more power? Lol. Ya I wasn't sure if those were forged or not. Im with you in thinking the Amg's are stronger.

I have connections with AMS/Alpha Performance, they are teamed up with Garrett turbos, which are top of the line. I heard some info that they are starting testing on a new turbo setup. I might have to pick one up when its released to the public

I think thats debatable unless you have taken the mb motor apart and looked at the internals yourself. Evo 8,9 have made 450 plus awhp pushing the stock internals.

Someone needs to take a motor apart and check out the pistons and rods, test to see what type of steel they're made of. If they're both forged, I'm betting you could throw some SERIOUS power at them. Your average forged pistons on a 4 banger can handle 600bhp, easy. Most often much more.

Basic forged H-beam rods can easily handle the same. Burlier I-beams can handle much, much more.
