New gla45 owner. The car was used, but great shape. Come time to put my winter rims/tire I noticed my oem rims/tires(original) are severely cracked.
I call Continental Canada toll free who says they can’t help me out and that they don’t back their products essentially. These were made on 2114, so not old.
You should buy new tires. Tires can be obtained at a store that specializes in selling and installing tires on cars. You can also buy new tires at the dealership. You can even buy tires at Walmart if that is more your speed.
I have had many sports car that were periodically driven and never seen this type of cracking. Michelin pilot sports or Goodyear super sports never cracked like this even if they were 10+ years old. These aren’t old tires being 3 years old.
I will spend money on tires, but completely good tires that crack due to poor rubber compound or bad integrity is frustrating.
AMG dis have a recall on the first gla45 to North America to change all 4 tires before delivery due to this exact issue. I am guessing that wasn’t done on this car and Continental doesn’t want to change them at this point.
Well I do hate conti tires. I think they suck. I'll give you that. I've bought a lot of AMG. They usually come with conti or Michelin. It's usually conti though. I always get rid of them at the first oil change and get Michelin pilot super sport or whatever is equivalent.
This is a great reason to go buy some Michelin pilots. It will be a major upgrade in driver pleasure over dried out, cracked contis. Do it! Enjoy!
If there was a US recall you can try leaning on the dealer.
That does look like cold weather damage on summer tires which I don't think a tire manufacturer will cover.
